How to Transfer files between MPC and Computer in Standalone

Not sure that would work, because most USB to HDMI cables require you install a driver.

Nothing wrong with seeing if it works.

Back to the switcher, a USB MIDI keyboard can also be switched between the MPC and computer. At this point, I'm going to start connecting every USB accessory I can find.

What about wifi sd cards.. has anyone tried this? I know they're intended for cameras, but they don't need a driver.

I've thought about it but never tested its. How would transferring data back to the card work?

I've never used one. It looks like the card gets an IP address, and is accessed through an application on a PC/tablet/phone. The app may only recognize photos for all I know. Not sure how the MPC would react to having an SD card inserted and actively written to from another device too.

Meh, I call it like it is: convoluted. . And more so than using a USB hub to plug multiple MIDI devices into. But you do you, Charlie! I gotta’ hand it to you - it’s convoluted as **** but it works.

How is it convoluted, when the save function is the same. Plus it faster than transfering sound in controller mode.

It's also faster than.

1. ejecting the SD or USB key from the MPC
2. physically removing it,
3. putting it into the computer,
4. saving or transfering,
5. ejecting from the computer
6. physically removing it again
7. placing it back into the MPC
8. Loading sounds while in standalone.

This is awesome. My problem has been dealing with older computers that I still like. So originally I wanted to get the controller mode setup on my MacBook Pro with an older os. I could have upgraded (it was only like 2 updates behind) but then I wouldn’t be able to run cubase 5. See, I guess whatever version the Mac needed for the akai software would have been incompatible with that version of cubase.

So I’m not going to buy or upgrade cubase again. I’ve bought (this is no joke) cubase for the Atari 1040st, cubase vst24 (my favorite program of all time), cubase sx, and cubase 5. I really want to get away from using a computer (hence the mpc live) but I can’t go cold turkey.

I ended up getting a pc with windows 10 just so I could install the akai software, just so I could format the hard drive I got. However I use it in a room in my house I have dedicated to visual art/video crap and my music studio is two floors down in the basement. So I’m still only using it studio wise for updates and whatnot.

No complaints or anything. The point of my stupid reply was just to clarify that it’s awesome that I can now transfer files from my Mac and also a windows xp computer (that’s right) that still has tons of samples I need.

This is perfect for that and you can do it all without leaving standalone. The computer I have it connected to, the USB SSD is shared over my network. So any computer on the network, can see it and load sounds to it.

When was VST24? 97 or 98 something like that?? Man that was some GREAT shit. I still have that big ass box and the parallel port dongle hah. That was my first DAW really. I started with Cakewalk back in DOS, then they added audio recording in like 97 I think but it sucked. Cubase had a fancy looking mixer that looked like an actual mixer and those effects! Ive looked at going back to it but **** its expensive and its probably way ahead of me now.

Back in those days I was experimenting in Samplitude. Multi-track audio recorder/editor.

We were using Roland VST Workstations and Alesis ADAT recorder.
