I held that, but l was compelled to tell the truth. Logically with common sense if you really want to hear what the X/Live/One really sound like GO DIRECTLY INTO THAT SOURCE without going into an interface then into the computer. Get a good flat response headphones, for me its the Sennheisers HD 600 which is balanced in the high, mid and low frequencies and the MPCs will present its true self. That's why l will not connect my MPC to the computer. I been knew this.
It doesn't help either telling me how long you been doing this as though it tells some truth. I been doing this when cutting tape with razor blades, to Adat and Dats, to computers. Ive worked on Real SSL boards, Neve and Yamaha. Im into the here and now cause its totally different.

The only issue is the MPC LIVE headphone amp, is it may not the best choice for Sennheisers HD 600. Get a better headphone amp and use output 5 & 6 on the Live, because it has better dynamic range. Try RNHP Precision Headphone Amplifier.

Yoooooooo! Why would l buy that for $499 just to listen through the MPC live? All l do is turn up tha volume on the Live and go. It cost more than half of what l paid for the live.

First of all, no one over here said to make a switch, I simply expressed how dope the audio quality is. You can argue until Galactus arrives to devour our planet if you want, ain't no changing my mind on this, LUNA sounds better than Studio One and Reason to me. But as I've said numerous times, in various ways, LUNA needs to catch up to Studio One's feature set.
I've concluded that from now on I'm using LUNA exclusively for tracking my hardware synths, drum machines, and samplers, as well my bass and guitars to obtain that LUNA sound and I will continue to mix with Studio One because of it's feature set.
I don't mind spending the $549 for the LUNA Creator Bundle, to me it's a worthy business investment...

It may not be the best choice, but, it IS what the MPC sounds like, no outside gear help.
Only flat response headphones and/or flat response monitors directly connected will
show the truest most direct mpc sound you can get and that will be what the mpc “really” sounds like.

I think this thread is getting so much traction because it is an objective claim "this is how your device really sounds" and it is subjective to the individual that it sounds "better". It's cool that it makes it sound better/different to you, but that is totally subjective from person to person.
The take away is that LUNA objectively changes how the audio sounds, and as a result is not how the device actually sounds. How a user may or may not like this change is subjective.

At the Major stoo they have it, they were talking about it last year. When l heard music in it, it sounded good. Just like the others nothing really special. My concern was functionality and price because the marketing was FREE DAW, that got people interested quick but when they saw the back end they got quiet real quick lol

1. You can hear the X better in Luna than S1v4 and Reason. So l rebutted it.
2. Luna will be the industry standard, l rebutted that.
Though l don't like Avid and there business practices their HDX system is off the chain. Most every major stoo has it and a Mac. No main stoo is going to give up their HD or HDX Protools system that people are certified in for no Luna.
In the famous words of fresh "LUNA AIN'T FU**** WITH NO HDX SYSTEM!" lol
It has all the short cuts that Protools has,what does that tell ya?

No. I'm not going through all that. If you want to believe whatever it is you believe, knock yourself. As I said before, try it out for yourself, or ask one of these YouTubers to make a comparison video for you. I don't have time for any of that...

LUNA is adding coloration to the sound, and many of my colleagues are starting to speculate that it's not even due to the exclusive plugs. They're doing something behind the scenes. Which is fine if that's what they want to do - every mixing desk since forever has a "sound color" to it for the most part. But like was said earlier, that coloration is going to be highly subjective. Hence threads like this.

For reference-grade headphones, you need a reference-grade headphone amp. If not, perhaps buy 32 Ω headphones instead of 300 Ω.
But as stated by Fresh and Eylac. Like Harrison Mixbus, LUNA may be doing something under the hood. I've only used it with plug in and the luna extensions.

That's what l saud. Told him Reason has that, Reason Studios tell you that. I love the sound of the emulation of the SSL 9000k. Protools is transparent. S1V4 is transparent but with some nice headroom, l ove S1v4. I have 2 DAWs and you will never see me put S1v4 against Reason.
