Manually slicing with pads?

Sorry maybe someone can help with this. I’ve seen a video where this guy manually slices his loop by playing the pads (I think it was factory OS though). I figure this would be useful for things that aren’t 4/4 or that I didn’t sample as a perfect loop. For the life of me I can’t figure out how to do this with JJOS though.

Anyone have a good video/link to this method?

It’s a lot of slicing modes to sort through and I feel like this method might not be talked about as much.

when you are in sample edit and are on the looped sample you want to slice. select slice F1 or F2 should say program mode. select it and you should be able to chop them manually. this is how you do it on jjos128xl. im not sure which os you are running. I hope this helps.

I’m on JJOS 3.13, maybe that’s not on there I’ll double check when I get home!

Actually I got that wrong, im on JJOS 2XL 3.31

Do you know if I can switch versions? I bought the MPC with JJOS already installed so I don't have the original password. Im not sure if OS3 would help

Thats exactly what im trying to do (I also think that's the video I saw the method on). Im going to try to update to JJOS 3 and hope it doesn't ask for the password!

For some reason its not letting me update to JJOS 3, every time I try it just shoots me back to v1 (the other boot option on my startup OS1 or 2XL)

JJOS2xl doesn't have this play&chop feature im looking for. Basically I want to just be able to have the sample start playing on pad 1, then when I hit pad 2 it slices, then 3 it slices again etc. Kinda like how you can chop really fast on the Korg MicroSampler.

I think you're misunderstanding me man, I just said JJOS 2xl doesn't have it (as far as im aware) that's why im trying to upgrade to OS3 currently. My MPC isn't wanting to take the update though.

Turns out I was trying to upgrade from the wrong OS version (4.99), downgraded to 3.16 and did the update. Up and running now! sorry for the confusion everyone
