Bouncing Stems & Busses

General mpc question here, but how do you all like to bounce your stems? I’ve found that exploding everything into its own channel is the classic mode for moving into a DAW but sometimes things get lost in that process of translation and so lately I am trying to find ways to bus out groups of sounds that are “glued” together and sitting nice in the mix.

Admittedly I am pretty bad with the software. I really like the mpc…tons of fx, synths, samples…but the GUI and workflow is not something I click with easily.

Anyway, I’ve taken to creating sequences of just the bus I want (usually say kick and bass with all the side chain, compression, whatever sound shaping needs to be done, etc) then another with various synths, or drums (snare + hats + percussion etc). Then I export the master and use that as a stem for further processing. Sometimes in daw or the OT etc etc.

Maybe bounce to sample is a better way? Or combining all the audio I want bussed into one drum program and bouncing as an audio track?

Jumbled thoughts on a very complex machine.

I’m assuming this is a really inefficient or “wrong” way of working with the software and am wondering if anyone has some workflow tips in this regard.

When l do drums in the live l make them all on e track. When l finished them l explode them to have individual tracks. Then l Export/Bounce out. You should have individual folder that you named with all your individual traks.

Hi thanks for advice. I have tried that but I am a bit confused with how the export process works as my exports never sound quite the same. The best results for me come from just internally resampling and then printing that as an audio stem. I use a lot of send/return routing/automation and so I am looking for a way to print audio of groups of sounds (as a bus of sorts) with all fx, automation and tweaks done.

The mother ducker, especially seems to get out of sync with my baseline when I explode drums and export bass. It stays tight when I just resample internally.

I export my midi exploded tracks onto a USB drive. With the effects etc on it. I don't resample nor turn midi into audio. You don't have to.

good ? i am trying to have the MPC replace my ableton LIVE/PUSH setup, so I wonder what works best on this machine. I see everyone wondering what’s next from AKAI, but I focus on getting the best out the equipment I already have. I had my MPC1000 for a decade before I copped the roland MV.

I export in real time via rearoute or soundflower from mpc software to my daw, you get what you hear and can track a live perfomance with finger drumming and sequencer stop/ starts which cant be recorded via export

How do you get your tracks in time with each other in the DAW bro?
It’s just that I’m learning the new Luna from UAD and I would like to run tracks through my SSL into Luna (DAW) but not sure how to keep individual tracks in relative time with each other
