Try anyway ! don't you miss the modulation capabilities of the MPC, and it's 24/96, and it's 4 midi out? what about the sound ? is it better ? and the pads how do they feel ?
Yes, I miss some of the modulation capabilities there are "work arounds" or just MV ways of doing things ont he Roland.
I do not miss the 4 mido outs...The 2 midi outs and the 1 in, is plenty and I need more, I break out my $20 edirol splitter that I bought years ago.
I do not miss the 24/96 sampling rate, that's all marketing.....To the human ear we've hit the wall a while ago.
I actually didn't mind the pads when I first got the MV, althought they felt a little different so I was slightly wierded out but now when I play on an MPC, I get the same feeling and actually the aftertouch on the MV are better IMO...
As to the question "is the sound better"...That's a toughy...The MPC outs are a little hotter....Some people might call that punchier but I just mix accordingly, and set my amps accordingly and it sounds the same...
Hip Hop heads have a strange loyalty to equipment that they swear is just what it has to be and I used to be one of those but the MV for me is just a superior machine...
V3 is off the hook now...with pattern mode, now we have a drug grid (which I did miss), if they would just make the "multilevel button" just like 16 levels, which I believe they will, it would be the shiz.
Also, they just added something on V3 called Pix Jam where you can trigger photo stills with the pads as you play (goes to the VGA), I'm sure you live performers could see where this would be useful in a club while performing...You basicly hit a pad and you can have logos, pictures, graphics, whatever come out the VGA (and potentially projected onto something)...pretty cool...
Also V3 added a VA emulator as an effect...it's pretty cool but since there is only 1 MFX, you have to bounce it to an audio track after recording to free up your MFX (but that's true with all the MFX on the MV)..
The Chorus and Reverb FX are on 2 different sends...
Honestly, Roland went off with the MV...It's already transformed iteslef to a whole new system and I owned the 4000 for a couple years, waiting for it just to meet it's press release specs, which it still hasnt....No disresct put I guess I'm preaching the MV cause I love it..Im nailing out beats left and right like when I first got started.
The MV gave me some of my flame back.
