The official 'All Things Behringer' Post...

I recall threads of folks burning eprom sounds for the sp12 so I imagine somebody likely did it

I did some research but didn't find the answer (at least not an satisfying answer). The snare sound of sussudio is very special. In DMX videos I heard people layering the clap and the snare of the DMX but even when you add a gated reverb if doesn't sound like the snare of that SP12 kit I got (which sound exatly like the sussudio snare). Phil mentioned in an interview that he wrote the lyrics while playing with the DMX and I also read that David Frank, who did the drum programming on sussudio used a DMX and Minimoog for it.
I just wonder how this sound ended up in a SP12 kit (don't know if this is an official drumkit cause the files I got doesn't have filenames that really tell where the sounds are from. The snare I'm talking about is named 'edrum2'. I didn't find the official kits on the net that came on 5.25 floppy disks. ZD610-ZD630).

If anyone know about a documentary about sampling in 80s/90s pop music or how the libraries were made by the companies let me know cause I find that interesting (for example: When the levee break snare on drumulator and SP used by Tears for fears and Depeche Mode. 'Kool is back' break on 'owner of the lonely heart' by YES. Funky Drummer used by Sinead O'Conner. Funkadelic drumbreak used by Oasis).

The company who made the EPROMS that Tears For Fears used was Digi Drums which later became Digidesign which is currently known as Avid. Those EPROMS were available for the Drumulator, LinnDrum and Linn 9000. I wonder if they also did the SP-12 floppies?

Looks like Behringer has a polyphonic version of the MS-20 dropping, if this is true, I'm so putting my Korg MS-20 to the side with it's 1 MIDI channel a$$...

Sweet glad I didn't get the K-2 yet! I got enough mono synths haha.

Got my blue TD-3 yesterday, haven't really had a chance to do much other than flick through the presets but god damn. Behringer NAILED it. I probably wouldn't ever take it to a gig (the case is really light plastic like their effects pedals) but oh man is this thing **** awesome to play with.

I remember the original TB-303, TR-606 and DR.110 being lightweight plastic so that sounds about right.

I figured as much haha. Man this thing is pretty **** rad though. For $150, I have 0 complaints about anything. A new firmware update came out a couple hours after I unboxed it. It was on 1.2.3 out of the box and I tried hooking up Synthtool immediately but it didn't even find 1.2.4 (which I had to grab from Facebook). A few hours later I opened it back up to set all the MIDI channel/sync stuff and boom 1.2.6 was ready to go. Still haven't made anything with it yet but went over how to use the sequencer yesterday and had some of the presets jamming along with the MPC, seems pretty simple. Had to track a song Im working on in Reaper yesterday, so now I can actually mess with my mixer again (couldnt touch it until the song was tracked haha), and throw the TD-3 into the mix.

I have the Behringer Neutron, Model D, K-2, Pro-1, Wasp Deluxe, Odyssey, and pretty recently acquired the Deepmind 12D, and currently waiting on the Cat and Poly D to arrive. I LOVE all my Behringer synths. They are straight-up killing the game right now!

UB-Xa Update.
We're proud to show you another big milestone in the development of the UB-Xa since we have just assembled what we call the "Tool Made Sample".
The TMS milestone means that the design and all mechanical parts are all tooled and final - in short this is how the unit will look like. As you will notice, lots of changes and improvements have been made since the first prototype - many of which have come from you. Thank you for all your valuable input.
However, we're still quite some time away from delivering the synthesizer as the firmware development is still ongoing. The UB-Xa is a very complex unit and frankly much has slowed down due to the current situation.
Thank you for all your patience - we promise that it'll be worth the wait:-)
