Couple of questions as a new user

Can fx trails be left on, when muting a pad? Currently they'll cut dead when I mute the pad and it would be nice to have it trail off when I mute. Is this function in another section?

Quantize - it's either too tight, or too loose. Am I meant to adjusting everything in the grid?
If not, what's a good setting to use? Or do I play it live and mess about with the quantize after? (this seems a bit counter intuitive, so it's likely more user error)

Overdub - I keep forgetting it's on and move to another part and then have to undo all of what I've done. Is there a setting for it to automatically turn off after a new part is played or inputed? If not, is there a way to just undo the previous actions and not have to delete everything?

Colour scheme - any way to adjust the default colours? I'm assuming not.

My one is a day old, and the pads look a bit dusty - how do you keep them clean?!

Pad Mixer and Channel Mixer act like traditional hardware mixers, so if you mute a pad - everything is cut off the moment you hit mute. Try Pad Perform instead.

As far as a good setting, it really boils down to personal preference, and aside from experimenting with your own style, there's no right or wrong answer. I find that adjusting the Shift Timing and Swing have the best results, but YMMV. That's just for my style.

No.

Aside from hitting "Undo", not automatically. IMHO, your best bet is to go into grid mode and delete your mistake. In the meantime, I would practice and retrain yourself to pay attention to your sequencer length so you know when to stop performing during your recording.

Of course! Menu => Pad Color. Or am I misunderstanding what you want to adjust?

Two ways are very effective: 1. pick up some large pile microfiber clothes, like these:

They'e great at wiping gunk off of the pads as well as the screen. They work far better than smaller microfiber clothes (like the kind made for eye glasses, which has a thread count that's too fine).

2. Try a lint roller, like these:

I think I need to do as you say, and play around. I suspect it would be a good idea to incorporate pad velocity settings into this as well.

Colour scheme, I mean the OS colours, not the pads. I've not seen an option anywhere, so I'm assuming it's a no go.

Yes, developing that muscle memory will have to be the way- just have to accept a few more #@£! Moments beofe it kicks in

OS color is what it is. No themes from Akai to reskin.
