But it is *my* Roland sound module

Though I think I'm with you on this... is it really necessary to reproduce a romper into a sampler? I'll grab specific sounds sure...

On the other hand... I get not wanting that old gear taking up more space and being a pain to maintain.

I just wonder how useful they will be. The first ones were meh at best. I did like electric, but I really don’t use that type of sound.
Ironically they are leaving out the “rompler” in hype... hopefully they will be more than barebones softsynths.
Not sure it’s going to have me shipping out my roland sound module.

This too.

I'd rather they produce a physical sound module that is an add-on to the Akai ecosystem. Don't try to bury it in the MPC. Then they could sell it to anyone, with or without an MPC. But make the integration with the MPC ecosystem tight. But that would require a strong ecosystem to begin with. Anyway. More noise to me. And more stuff in the MPC that I wouldn't ever use. Give me SAMPLER innovation and advancement. Sequencing improvements. Composition tools. Not composition sounds (and not good ones at that. IMO)

No way what they can implement will compete with a Roland sound module. Electric isn't that good, so you're not missing much. I can't see these being much above the "meh" of the current ones. I don't know anyone that's actually used them in a song. But then again, I'm pretty disconnected from what seems like a group of MPC users that are asking for things like Splice, soft synths and a speaker. Clearly this group of users exists, because they keep spending time and resources on meeting their requests. The requests like greater sampler functionality (like the 4000), time signature improvements, multi-mode, improved song mode, PDC, etc - those requests are clearly being overshadowed by this other group of MPC users. Because they're nowhere in sight. Would love to see them tended to in 3.0 though.

Still say though - I love the MPC for what it does. Use it on almost every song.

Ironically hype blows the original 3 by far. Actually useable but a horrible GUI in my opinion. I am sure a lot of these elements were part of hype, the FM synth sticks out in this regard. I know it’s sample based but it covers a lot of ground, to an extent where I could see using on many tracks.

I guess the business model is to put their “sound modules” in the current product line.

Hype is closer to the new Roland series in sound but from the original Mpc plug-ins that’s not saying much.

Akai can’t compete on that level and I don’t think it’s the intention . Maybe some sort of box that can port over the full Air soft synths not the chopped down extra light versions with tacky GUIs.

These plugins on the MPC are literally one of the only ways you can do a proper 808 glide, IMHO. TubeSynth is great for that.

I'll say again I'm disappointed that Hype doesn't appear to be coming to MPC, though. This is the kind of shit that makes people rage against Akai, and I don't blame them.

I’m interested to see how Drum Synth translates to the MPC. The screen shots suggest that drum parts can be loaded as separate plugin instances, which would really limit its usefulness IMHO, as the MPC can only handle 8 plugins at once. Hoping a proper “kit” plugin instance can be loaded so the other 7 slots can be used for other plugins not related to Drum Synth.

From my limited understanding of how you work, all your sounds are in the box except for your drums. Besides using your MPC to program your drums and export them via USB or SD Card. How else do you use the MPC LIVE? Do you use the MPC's Standalone plug ins?

If you look at the pictures (https://www.gearslutz.com/board/showpost.php?p=14682637&postcount=22494), you will notice that there's also a multi version of the plugin. Since, unfortunately, the multi version of the Drum Syth only has 2 outputs, the separate versions are a good thing because it will allow us to bounce drums as separate tracks. I really hope there's some kind of "explode" feature to transform a multi-instance of the multi plugin into several drums plugins, so that we could write complete patterns in the grid editor and finish the song by mixing tracks with our DAW (or any other audio tool).

Concerning the limitation of 8 plugins, I guess it will be a little frustrating but I suggest that it's just a question of CPU consumption.

As a side note, if the multi MIDI inputs feature does not come with all those plugins, I don't understand Akai's logic anymore
