Massive amount of new standalone plugins coming to MPC

BFD by fxpansion which is owned by Roli. They will get the Software, Dev staff, sample libraries. This would be a great fit for MPC, if they turn it into a plug in.

Its 2020 these new MPCs are not just sequencers and samplers, its made for that and among other things.
They have the tech where a soft synth won't make it shuggish. I love synths in it dope ones at that. I could do a whole song on the MPC

No, Inmusic bought BFD from FXpansion which is owned by ROLI. I'm just saying, they could move BFD, to the MPC Platform.

Yeah, software is always being recycled. I found the best thing to do, is buy sample sets, that sounds the closest to the actual instrument. That way the sound is never dated.

What MPC expansions do you use?

I mix and match up some of the stock “808” type sounds on the live. I also have some similar sample sets/ tr-08 samples. No shortage of drum sounds...

I chop breaks every now and then too. Depending on my vibe. Mainly the live breaks bundle from tutor here I got on Black Friday.

Lately I’ve been trying to find breaks/ samples off youtube or the radio when I’m listening. I don’t do a whole lot of sampling, but it’s still fun to find them. Found a slick break on a Natalie Merchant song the other day. It was actually a very well done song called “Carnival”.

I could see myself using the new drum synth too if it’s not too wack. I think with that and the analog heat I could get some nice sounds going.

BFD was my 1st drum VI. The 8 Bit and Jazz & Funk kits would be sweet on the MPC.

There are two factors that come into mind when you ask me that question two factors come into place. TIME!!!
i.e. if you were to ask me that in 94' l would of said HipHop and RNB-HipHop. At this time from 2004 and present ALL genres of music you can think of can or will use the MPC . That is the first that comes to mind along it being more than the older models. In 94 l saw it as a sampler, dope sequencer that could handle midi and wav. And sampling.

Today l see it as more than what l seen it as in 94'. Its a computer, sequencer , handles wav and midi, effects processor , controller,touch screen, sampler and synth.

So in totality this is how l see the MPC today, not just some sequencer and sampler, its to advance just to be that.
The plugins at this time match how l see the MPCs now because of the modern functions it possess.

When I hear MPC, I immediately think of that “time for the percolator” song.


Jokes aside, when I was trying to do live stuff I actually opened for that dude in Milwaukee at like a 830 slot and my friend gave me two rolls. I ended up playing 45 minutes of three six mafia on some cdjs I borrowed... yea shit show.... I guess I had fun though.

Perhaps, that is the issue with these machines, they don't have an identity. With these new plugins, I'm not really sure who they're made for? It feels generic and bland like facebook band page.

Have you guys used BFD before? I own BFD2 and BFD3, no way in hell it'll work on the MPC with the RAM it has heh. We would get some half assed lite version if that. The full sized kits have 128 samples/velocity layers per drum, that's one sample for each velocity tick. You could probably eat most of the memory available just loading the kick and snare. And then theres all the alternate snare hits like the flams, rolls, sticks, etc.. 128 layers for each cymbal.. Each tom.. Snare tops and bottoms.. Kick inside and outside mics.. The MPC was NOT designed to host something as big as BFD at all heh.
