The full sized kits have 128 samples/velocity layers per drum, that's one sample for each velocity tick. You could probably eat most of the memory available just loading the kick and snare. And then theres all the alternate snare hits like the flams, rolls, sticks, etc.. 128 layers for each cymbal.. Each tom.. Snare tops and bottoms.. Kick inside and outside mics.. The MPC was NOT designed to host something as big as BFD at all heh.

It would have to be Lite version, unless Disk Streaming can solve that issue. BFD can run on Surface Pro 3, maybe they'll create a MPC controller map for BFD. Then user can control BFD, with their MPC like they do with Ableton.

Min Specs:

Core2Duo 2.0ghz (or equivalent)
2GB DDR3 RAM
7200rpm mechanical hard disk or fast SSD
BFD3 v3.2 - Win 7/OSX 10.9 or later
BFD3 v3.3 - Win 10/OSX 10.11 or later
Internet connection for authorization and downloads
USB 2.0 port for installation

I started to write a response like this yesterday, but didn’t feel like it. Yours came out much better anyway. But THIS.

I have no problem with them wanting to expand the MPC to a VSTi host as well, but create an MPC that can do that correctly. If not, we get all this stripped down, half ass implementation nonsense. Anyone that has played a real EPiano or really good VSTi, knows that Electric is nowhere near good - because it has to be stripped down to run on the MPC. The same will happen with these.

I think Akai always misses opportunities to do something remarkable, and instead opts for underwhelming.

* MPC X - maxed ram, cpu, comes with 20gb sample library and full suite of Akai VSTi and FX, user installable SSD
* MPC 61 key - maxed ram, cpu, comes with 20gb sample library and full suite of Akai VSTi and FX, use installable SSD
* MPC Live - mid level ram, cpu, comes with 10gb sample library (can purchase the remaining), and lite suite of Akai VSTi and FX (could purchase upgrade to full suite), user installable SSD
* MPC One - minimum ram, cpu, comes with 4gb sample library (can purchase the remaining), no VSTi nor FX, no installable SSD

But instead, we’ll get nonsense, and I STILL won’t be able to do something basic like change the time signature in a sequence. Basic sequencer functionality.

Yeah, it would definitely be BFD Lite.

After spending half a day autosampling some of my drum VI kits and being cut off by pops suddenly appearing in the samples, a nice acoustic standalone drum VI would be welcomed. No matter how lite, I'm sure the quality would be better than the velocity kits I created.

But until they add support for multi-ouput VIs, it's for naught IMO.

That's not pops, that's the Auto Sampler's bootleg protection protocol.

The MPC no longer has an identity because they're casting the largest net possible. Just look at the list of MPC Plugin.

From your list this is all they need. I say stop catering to the low end market. Make something that people will inspire to buy. This whole everyone can have it, is why no one wants it. :smoker:

* MPC 61 key (Change that to 88 keys) - maxed ram, cpu, comes with 20gb sample library and full suite of Akai VSTi and FX, use installable SSD

 Yo Charles an E, l found the Celtic Harp on my Roland 5080 VST . Right now l am so happy, :-D
Ima start choppin up the entire set, the super low and high keys l won't chop up. Ima put them in the MPC :) Its about to be fun again. So when l do drums l can add melodies like l use to on the 2000XL. Plus l gotta add this bass on all the pads from my old Akai 2000XL drums CD. That's is all you gotta do is put it in and spread it. I wanna be able use my harps with the new plugins. Its like things coming together , its a blessing.

But boy am l happy.

Haha - man that's good stuff right there. The XV5080 is still my favorite Roland rompler ever.

Damn I pulled up that patch on the XM.. that ones cold, swear it was used on the chronic 2001 album, prolly a lot of other places too. If danoc don’t want to give up his secret sauce, I’ll drop a keygroup in the camping when I get back to my computer.

Not sure if I can get the magic of the velocity like on the device itself, but I guess something is better than nothing.

I thought about that, but I autosampled for hours without it kicking in. So the autosampler is supposed to do that whenever I try to autosample virtual instruments? Andy why would Akai's sampler be concerned with protecting 3rd party VIs but not hardware instruments?

I disagree. I just think the MPC is being more & more designed like a DAW. Each DAW caters to a vast group. Their included libraries and samples cover many genres. Akai is attempting to do the same. Its identity is "more than just a sampler/sequencer". It's the best box out because of this.

I think "MPC Heads" just don't like it. You all seem to only want its bread & butter expanded. Others want exactly what Akai is doing. Personally, I like it. I too would like them to smash existing bugs and flesh out the bread & butter tools. But I also want VIs and other modern tools.
