None of them have been fixing the foundation. Many of us come from the MPC era where the foundation was TIGHT (2000, 4000), not to mention the Z platform sampler... and people’s expectations (and frustrations) are a reflection of that. It’s not that people don’t want the platform to evolve. It’s that new stuff is being built on a foundation that needs attention, just to be able to do basic things, and instead we’re getting splice, clip launching, ableton link and a speaker. But hey I get it. Times change. It is what it is.

And there is absolutely nothing wrong with wanting this.

I agree Enoch. Why it can't be the whole studio.
If dudes githeir entire stoo on a laptop you should be able to do it with the Live, definitely with the X.
If Akai would of did their due diligence we could. ITS NOT IMPOSSIBLE! I hope someone say no it can't so l can give them that smoke :smoker:

There is nothing wrong with that, but understand that I have other expectations of what a complete studio is than what you expect, or Charles, or Enoch. So whatever Akai will do, they’ll never be able to meet everybody’s needs. Akai is trying to, but basically has too much field to cover. Somebody will always feel left out on his/ her feature request. Akai tries to offer everything Ableton with Push can do, outmuscle Mashine and at the same time stay true to their original concept and workflow, by designing new up to date machines and building on relatively young software. So it’s nothing but logical that things take time to be perfect or that they drop the ball on certain parts.

That's the issue, they're trying to offer everything. I say, offer less but what they do offer, make it the best. Take away all the sounds and give me the best drum or Piano or Synth they can muster. Which ever it is, make it the best.

I have a force and at first glance the fm synth stuff stuck out. I’d have to look at the pics and go through the presets to confirm even more but I’m assuming it’s easier for them to have stripped down versions with oscillators vs the oscillators and the partials. I’m just guessing as I don’t have the knowledge to know for sure.

Overall, hype is very digital almost 80s style. The presets remind me of Roland d50, dx7 style. It does have a lot of other stuff in the presets but it’s centered around that sound.

Honestly prefer the sound of it to my digitone which gets really harsh really quick. Although obviously the digitone offers a lot more and the stupid GUI of hype is off putting and seems way extra.

so basically hype is a bunch of hype; akai need to just open up the OS to over developers and Roland or Korg to make some romplers and synths for the mpc; that would be ironic.

Also need to devlop a virtual s950 that I can run as an fx or vst; so u can get that 12 bit alias magic along with that low end theory filter.

Or focus on what Akai Professional was built: sampling. Making or facilitating a very good sounding sound library, improve autosampling, Z8 deep Key-group edit mode to really go ham with multisamples and MPC400 drum program ability. Two area's Akai could really focus on improving (besides bug improvement) instead of many, and let other parties and companies worry about making the new sounds to use with the MPC. As icing on the cake extra audio ins for external synths you may sequence thru midi and a clever mixer to tie everything up. Saves a lot of time and energy on designing MPC standalone specific plugins.
