And neither of these posts are about NOT wanting the platform to evolve. It's about tightening up the foundational elements of this MPC platform and making it a serious music composition tool. And no, adding plugins, a speaker or Splice isn't what I'm talking about.
I'm always concerned that 95% of people don't care about things like polyphonic expression, because what they care about is "press pad, play sound" type of composition - samples and clips. You even see it in their trade show demos. There's never a midi keyboard hooked up to the MPC (at least that I've seen). I want to see them show up at NAMM, with an Advance 61 connected, and start the demo with "now this is really cool". Not "now this is really cool" and show me Splice.
Anyway, I gotta get to work on this project and stop venting frustration with this platform that I've been using my entire musical career. Still love it. Just want to see Nukai do it the justice it deserves. New Blue Soul Ten single coming in May. Y'all got less than 1 month to get ya stuff together. I'm bringing heat this summer. Who else is?

Venting is good every now and then, but after that have to move on like you say. The Live frustrated me, but by really finding out what exactly frustrated me on the Live I learned what my true workflow is, and that I needed to ' deep dive' into my machines to get the most out of it. Stopped complaining, sold the Live and focused on being productive. Decluttered my workflow and am now more productive than ever. Released a tape yesterday (see signature) and almost heading into postproduction for another tape I will release in June. Another tape I made beats for yesterday will be on a 3rd project I will release in September.

But to be fair, that's what the majority of people who do things via the MPC are looking for. I can speak for myself, that focus is part of why I've switched to the MPC platform for production (Ableton main w/ a pocket FL Studio), as it helped focus on my workflow - a lot less "ooh I can do this or try this" and more, I am going to do this and do that.
That doesn't change their borderline negligence at lack of certain features - I'm not excusing them, but in one thread on this forum, people are complaining that Akai isn't sticking to being a sampler, yet in other threads - like here, the complaint is that they haven't gone far enough passed that.

All Akai has to do as a basic that will satisfy everyone and make people go

1. Computer , most software run on a computer. Powerful one.
2. Sequencer which we have.
3. 256.Gig ram optional to 256.
4. Disk streaming.
5. Air synths and others.
All things we already have and whaeber they throw at it. This is what everyone needs.

@elayc Less then zero for me, I blown my own personal deadline by almost a month. Need to do this, finally have time but I’m all over the place, no excuse tho. I can literally lay in my bed and sketch out a beat. Thanks for the motivation, Charles too with the double up on the graphic.

For many or most it is. But not for me and maybe others. I get my computer involved as late as possible. Only for postproduction, or adding some extra sounds and synths. I also don't need that in the same box. If I had the space then I'd rather have a real synth and/ or keyboard for extra sounds. I lay down bass and a few other instruments in the MP with multi's, and sometimes replace them by other patches in Logic during postproduction. Don't need 256gb of ram, never run out of the 128mb inside the MPC. So disk streaming isn't a necessity for me either.

What people want from a MPC functionally isn't that big of a deal. Most users actually seem pretty happy with their X/Live/Ones, its just some of the limitations that feel immature given the year they were released, and certain thing - like polyphony.
I even question what they could add - reasonably that would increase the "performance" outside of just increasing the raw numbers, and changing the format - I've said it before, a MPK249/MPC Live hybrid would be DOPE as a performer. My perspective has changed a bit as I've gotten better with the tool. I'd love to be able to do more of everything, but I qestion how much value that would bring to the table. The hardware couldn't keep up with the performance creep associated with VSTs. Its healthy, good, and recommended for them to release new synths and VST style FXs for standalone - it could lead to the ecosystem they frankly could use, but the idea of cramming Omnisphere into the MPC just feels too far fetched and unneccessary - people will just complain about either people using presets, or the presets not being good, etc.
@Danoc - while I won't stick to that 256, that internal storage needs a massive upgrade, I'm sorry SD/microSD cards are too friggin cheap for us to only have a 16 gig card.
