I disagree. Here's why. My laptop has S1v4 and Reason on it. The live isn't f***ing with either software. Both take plugins at your chosen. Is Omnisphere on the live? Nope. Serum? Nope. Fabfilter? No, l can go on.
Sequencer on both have improved so much on both is ridiculous. The things and native plugins in both Live don't have . you can't even open vst in the Akai software lol if you seen the ish S1v4 can do making drums you will be stunned. I barely use my MPC live. Thinking selling it.

Laptop has definitely more powrr, l don't have to go into it.
Much more portable than the live. I use to take the live. One day l took the laptop to the stoo and l never looked back. I can do an entire track with ease on a laptop. I have access to thing better than the live.

Here9the kicker l fell much more comfy with the lappy than the live.

Yes, off course. Spec and feature wise the Live won't even come close. But it's not impossible to have the Live replace all the tasks you would need a laptop for. Theoretically it has everything on board to finish a beat. Won't suite everyone's workflow though. If you're just a bedroom producers or just starting out, the Live can be all you need.

This is the mark that MPC X, LIVE, One is missing. Being about to work in standalone, while at the same time being able to functions as an audio interface and midi controller for laptop or desktop.


I'm looking into the MASCHINE MK3, MASCHINE JAM and KOMPLETE KONTROL S88. I'll pull the trigger once they support: MIDI Polyphonic Expression.

C-MAN are you getting rid of the One then?

My boy has MKIII and Komplete keyboard. He loves it. Not for me though l like the aesthetics of it.

I'll keep the MPC ONE just to keep an eye on anything Akai makes. I'm not buying another drum machine or drum pad controller unless it supports and uses MIDI Polyphonic Expression. Speaking strictly for myself, this is where finger drumming and keyboard playing is going. No need to pitch or modulation wheel.

If I was to get an alternative keyboard... this is where I'd probably go.

The bottom vid seems it’s trying to hard to be new and innovative.

The Sensel Morph has swappable pads. Same thing but with keyboard.

The Expressive E Osmose is nice as well.

I couldn't tell you. Perhaps it's something they could implement via code? What ever it is, they should've done this when they released the MPC LIVE 3 years ago. I wonder if JJ could make this happen on the JJOS with existing hardware?

Yep. Akai had the chance to murda the game.

You would've thought that with all these sounds they're adding, this kind of thing would've been a priority. Imagine how many units, they would've sold just buy adding this function. The sheer number of virtual instruments sample sets sales, would've been through the roof.

And thats why l gave up on Akai. Akai will not string me along machine by machine. Im not doing that.
