Wassup fam? Hope y'all safe out there.
I've been eyeballing MPC X for the past month, reading through forums and watching YT vids and after initially disregarding these new MPCs when they came out 3 years ago, it looks like they're very capable machines, especially with the 2.8 update coming.
But there is still one thing related to MIDI I'm confused about: can I use MPC X Q-links to control VSTs in other DAWs (e.g. Reaper) without using the MPC software?
In other words - can I use MPC X as an overpriced control surface if the need arise?
I'm thinking of the following scenario: after doing most of the work in standalone I'd like to export tracks to Reaper to add some synth sounds and for final mixing. And it would be great to be able to dial in synth sounds using Q-links instead of mouse-clicking.
I've read in the manual there's a MIDI Control Mode, so that seems like a possible solution - just connect MIDI OUT from MPC to MIDI IN in audio interface and map Q-links to VST knobs using MIDI Learn in Reaper. Sounds good to me, but I want to double-check with you guys.
Have a great day, cheers!
