2.8 is Here and you might actually like this update...

Nice they posted a few videos.. but what a tease waiting almost 2 weeks for the release.. lol last time they waited this long u got exactly what they showed on the videos nothing more.. I'm happy to see improvements.. just not sure how this helps standalone syncing to your DAW such as cubase 10.5.. I guess we will see.. still excited!

So I found out "enhanced note mode", formerly pad performance mode is only available for note based programs, so no need to switch on and off when going from a drum program track to plugin/midi track, and vise versa.

Should make it easier to keep key groups in key.

Depends how you use it I guess.

Me. I get the initial sequences down on my Ren then move over to the daw and use mpc as a drum module.
Opens it up for me now.
Instead of being limited to one program (128 pads) that I can sequence from reaper it opens up tracks to me. Syncs a non issue of in sequencing in daw.

Love working on the mpc but it's not the best place for arranging and mixing imo
Makes an awesome sound module with a lot of control.

What about switching from one keygroup track to another? If we use chords on one track and want a chromatic scale (off) for another, we have to go back in and change to chromatic?

If this is the case, just like with the metronome, they missed an efficiency. There needs to be a master off available on the surface, separate from the parameters in the menu. Single vs double tap?

I like the Pad Perform being global - I don't want to have to set everything manually to the same key/scale

Not 100% sure but I think it stays the same across all note based programs. I was hoping you could set each track or program independently and have the settings recalled when you focus to that track.. or lock it on certain tracks.

Akai came with the goods for 2.8. I’m looking forward to the 8th to start using all the keyboards and samplers in my studio with availability to hookup to USB. I perform all my sequencing on the MPC X and sometimes I sync my MPC 60MKll for drums. This update is a total surprise for the better. I wonder what Akai is planing next that we don’t know about. The MPC X/Live/One is getting closer to a DAW in the box with each update. Nothing like Stand Alone and the option to work in Controller Mode is plus.

With multi midi will I be able to sequence a bunch of korg gadget modules on my iPad, each on a different midi track all via Bluetooth?
Or same with Reason rack devices on my mbp?
Both at the same time?

You'll find out in a week.

The pad perform improvements are great, because I haven't had my One for long and I was already starting to get sick of the shift key. If I've got a key-based program open, I'd prefer it if 16 Levels went straight to Notes, even if it would be a UI crime. Instrument patches basically open up in an unusable state most of the time, needing at least one button push, so there's definitely room for improvement there.

This all looks good. I've got a slightly damaged but still functional USB port on my Live, I kept meaning to get an extension cable to leave plugged in but I think now I'll just grab a hub instead.

(Actually, does anyone have any idea whether hubs need to be externally- or bus-powered?)

I'm wondering whether/hoping that as part of the MIDI upgrades, MPC will now be able to record when synced. No mention of this specifically, I guess we'll find out soon.

I wish EVERYTHING could be recalled per track. I hate that the bank and zoom don't stick.

But Tube Digga confirmed you have to go back and set Pad Perform to chromatic. There's no off. Net improvement, but a missed efficiency by Akai. They do not like master offs. They need one for the metronome as well.
