And my name will live forever as the Korean Jenius.....

So 2.8 is coming with many new plugins?
Any official date?
They will be for free or to purchase?
Thanks.

All cards point to it being free. Over at Gearslutz, it was mentioned by Akai that MPC Software 3.0 would be a free upgrade to current owners. All 2.x point updates have been free to date. So if these alleged standalone plugins appear in either a 2.x point update or MPC Software 3.0, it'll likely be free.

If it's not by the end of second quarter 2020 (which is June 30), or at the latest the beginning of Q3, I think there will be a riot.

Ah fine.
I think it would be nice if they make a platform with 3rd parties synths and effects to buy, like Reason extensions.
For all the Akai products, Mpc 1/live/x/ live2/Force.
Like the expansions.
They all have same operating system, at the end.

I agree, a plugin store and a way to get said plugins onto your MPC would have been incredible. Alas, I don't think Akai has the foresight, focus, or finance to make that happen at this point.

It depends how they are selling with this new Mpc generation.
It looks it's going quite well.
And I see many people going back to hardware.
Let's see.
I would buy a granular effect for sure, for me is the only missing thing in Mpc standalone.
The rest is good, but I don't use the synths so much, I have external ones.
I quite like the Air effects, especially the Filter Gate.

So, since you didn’t respond a page or two back, I ended up creeping on your Gearslutz history in the MPC Live thread to discover that you likely had access to a early production unit and currently do inside alpha/beta testing for Akai. So, I guess what I’m trying to say is - I hope your “very good things cooking” tease translates into some real awesome stuff, because the bar of expectations is set pretty high. And I’d hate for you to look bad.

This thread is very interesting. On gearslutz there is a thread about the Live MKII where users have found information about future updates from the contents of the disk image file. The link is here https://github.com/TheKikGen/MPC-LiveXp ... /README.md and here https://www.gearslutz.com/board/electro ... st14727520 In the thread they mention that 3 new plugins also appear in the binary MPC 2.72:
MPC:DrumSynth
MPC:Xpand
MPC:OrganB3,
and should therefore be part of a future release. It would be incredible if we get the plugins in the pictures and Xpand. A dream come true.

Yes, very interesting. I wonder why Xpand wasn't teased in the NAMM unit on display, though? :?: Anyway, none of these are coming in 2.8, so it looks like they may be a 2.9 or - more likely - a 3.0 thing.

You never know. ilok bought JUCE recently. Current Akais run on JUCE. This means that soon, JUCE will have ilok integration, which would leave Akai in a very good position to start inviting other VST plugin developers for porting their stuff to the MPC Standalones. Might also mean that we will need to blow one USB port for a ilok dongle in the future :smoker:
