2.8 will be a culmination of everything I wanted from the new MPC's when I sold my 1k and bought the live. Multi mode will get me my old workflow back (minus the overdub pedal! Still missing that one) where I can record multitrack MIDI into the sequencer in realtime. Good times ahead!

The multi mode introduces a mindblowing amount of new tricks you can do with the MPC. Combine custom pad maps with layered MIDI, madness abound! You will be able to create custom stacks, chords, throw in a few melody-line-progressing cycle pads, freaky stuff.. Only thing thats keeping the universe from collapsing is that you cant make "MIDI controller programs" (yet) where you could bind MIDI control messages like CC & pgm chng to the pads - If that ever comes to the MPC its game ov :worthy:

Korg Volca FM i can recommend, especially for the price you can't beat it.

I don’t feel modular is overhyped- I have friends who have built amazing systems that make some of the most incredible soundscapes that cannot be done on anything else. It’s the trap of buying that I’m not into. My one friend has spent close to $7,000 building his rack, which is just insane to me.

Yeah, the Volca line is a safe bet - they seem to hold their resale value too. I can’t even find them on Reverb for much less than the retail.

I kind of think overpriced and hype go hand in hand in that sense.. 7000$ for a modular rack.. geez, just think what else you can buy from that. 7 mpc live's for instance.

I would stay out of some volca's. not all are that good. but the FM one is a secret weapon for sure.

The minilogue seems like fun too though i didn't try or had it, but currently i am pretty sorted with analogue synths :)

If you decide to go modular hit me up, I can give you some pointers. On the other hand... I'm waiting on a massive case for my setup... so maybe I'll end up proving your point that eurocrack is a real problem.

Thanks! The Volca FM is definitely on my radar. The other is the Volca Drum. It’s the closest to Sonic Charge Microtonic that I’ve seen in hardware outside of TE’s PO-32 (which I had and sold).

LOL! Cool, thanks. If you find your modular is approaching the cost of a small car, maybe hit the brakes. I’ll probably stick to affordable for now.

I loved the Microtonic ! Super computer gear :) If you're looking for something like this hardware ---> LXR SONIC POTIONS is like a 6/ 7 voices ultra complete modulation frenzy "sonic charge" like hardware drumbox/drumsynth !!

I used it a lot until I got my mpc.. NOw that's the mpc has multi midi in I think they will be very happy together ( recording LXR parameters change on the mpc sequencr !!! )
