Roland Aira MX-1 user feedback: I had hoped that my MX-1 would show up as a USB MIDI hub, and allow all 4 instruments attached to show up in the MPC Live's 2.8 MIDI section as each separate instruments like it does on my PC in any DAW I connect it to. Sadly, this is not the case. :? The Roland MX-1 only shows up as "MX-1 MIDI 1" and "MX-1 MIDI 2", and I can't seem to assign a track in the MPC to each instrument. :hmmm:

That sucks, and has made the 2.8 far less useful for me.

I've got a 4-port USB hub laying around and will try that, but I was hoping I wouldn't have to disconnect everything from my MX-1, as it's critical for mixing and adding additional performance effects.

Yo Enoch l have the System 8, 1 and 100 VST from Roland, is incredible. Powerful.

I don’t feel modular is overhyped- I have friends who have built amazing systems that make some of the most incredible soundscapes that cannot be done on anything else. It’s the trap of buying that I’m not into. My one friend has spent close to $7,000 building his rack, which is just insane to me.

Yeah, the Volca line is a safe bet - they seem to hold their resale value too. I can’t even find them on Reverb for much less than the retail.

Korg Volca FM i can recommend, especially for the price you can't beat it.

You've never played with one, or maybe you only see people trying to recreate old mono synths with one then. Sorry but the $3-4k total I payed for my little 6U setup blows any synth I have out of the water, and "7 MPC Lives" still won't be able to do half of what my modular can.

3 Oscillators, along with 5 LFOs that can all hit audio rate if I need more VCOs, think I have 4 or 5 envelopes altogether, SSM2044/Wasp/Prophet5 filters, a choice of low pass gates or VCAs, the WMD Waveshaper from hell, my Sputnik Buchla Source of Uncertainty.. All routable wherever the hell I want it to go. Sorry no MPC is getting anywhere near that things capability even after sampling it.

Thanks, it's good to read that I'm not alone. Any other feedback/comment on this feature would be welcome, users :)

I've gotten a chance to play around with Pro Ten a bit more... and on melodic content (like a guitar) it is noticeably better... so I think as long as you know your application and it's limits of use... it could be worth the CPU hit in order to get better sounds. I'm now curious enough that I'm going to play with it on some sample libraries.

EnochLight wrote:LOL! Cool, thanks. If you find your modular is approaching the cost of a small car, maybe hit the brakes. I’ll probably stick to affordable for now.

For the amount of gear I have flipped it honestly isn't that bad. I'm having way more fun with it than I had with some of that other gear, and the footprint for space usage is pretty great. Sure the price can seem crazy... but like everything else... you get what you pay for... and far more of the euro rack gear holds it's price than not...

Anyways... super off topic :D

The MPC is a resampling beast now that you can combine tracks, merge some different plugins with automation and FX's then resample. We my not have Hype, but this goes a long way toward making some unique sounds in standalone.

The work flow improvements are great including Pro Ten warping.

if Akai can maximize the main screen,so you don't lose functions with program fader window open (currently X Users have access with Qlinks and dedicated buttons).

They put the MIDI-mapping in this update. I was just mentioning to Lampdog how MIDI mapping should be in standalone mode.
