MPC 4000 vs. Roland MV 8000

Yes, absolutely...Every track, has its own "Track Paramaters", just like on a Triton...Track paramaters is where you control the type of quantize you are using on that particular track and you can use any quantize solution on any track

You've got to check yourself son...I don't mean that in a bad way but you need to learn whats what before you post...First off, AKsys will NEVER NEVER NEVER be like the VGA out from the MV no matter how functional AKsys becomes (if it does)...The reason for this is that it needs a host computer.

The MV8000 IS the computer with a VGA out...I've got my LCD sitting on my third tear of my keyboard stand and when I go into VGA mode, I'm on a big screen with a brilliant control surface...The 4000 is not capable of having a VGA output screen because it's wasn't engineered to do so. This is something the R&D people need to prepare for...When the 4000 came out and the AKsys was going to be developed it was designed to be hosted by a seperate computer, and it's very awkward and it's just a different beast all together...Dragging and dropping on to the pads and stuff like that is cool, but the VGA mode on the MV will always rival AKsys... The MV had the technology for the VGA outpurts because of their VS series mixers which is why it didnt cost them much to figure it into the MV... Akai should have done the same when they came out with the 4000 but they didn't want to canabolize they're own digital mixing market.....Unfortuantely that was a bad decision because Roland saw that as an oppurtunity to steal some of the MPC market share.

As for your abandon issue you brought up again when the "MV8000mk2" or whatever you said comes out, that I'll be sad...Well one day I'm sure the MV will be updated hardware wise but to be an MPC head (which I was and still kind of am) and say this is mad hypocritical....How long was the MPC2000 out before the XL came out? 6 months? Like I said before, Roland could abondon the MV right now and they've already gone way above their NAAM 2004 specs and the MPC has yet to meet theirs....Don't tell me about abandonment... THe MPC is living on the 1000 right now, and 4000 users are getting it in the ass.

Wow.. Ive just checked the MV-videos on the Rolandus site. OINK! What a monster! It looks more stable too, OS wise and hardware wise.
This is the piece of equipment I want. This replaces the pc for good! I bought the MPC to replace the pc. This is hot! IMHO
I am allready trying to sell me MPC via MSN.. Roland is giving free vga boards if you purchase the MV before last of March. ( I hope this has nothing to do with the MK2 thats comming )

I think the mv8000 is a really cool machine (I really think that it rivals the mpc4000), but like I said in a previous post this benifits both mv\mpc users because the better roland makes the mv will only force akai to make the mpc4000 equal to or better so I'm excited to see what's going to happen.
Think about it, if there was only 1 car manufactuer then we probably wouldn't cruise control, power stering, power windows, ect.

Let's not start an MK2 rumor...It was just something Awwwnaww said to make a point and I used his example...There is no rumor of an MK2 and Roland started giving away the VGA board about 3 months before Christmas and then (they wanted to push pre-Christmas sales) and by no surprise they extended it on the DEC 31st deadline...Im sure after the March deadline, it will come with the unit standard because they realize this is one of the main things that seperates the 8000 from the 4000.

To the person who was asking about pad banks...It's confusing to quote on here...I always quote the wrong person.

Anyway....

6...You hit the "Pad Banks button" and you get a read out on the LCD or monitor of all 6 pad banks and you scroll to the one you want...It also shows you on the pad what note it corresponds to on a keyboard.

I have the 4k and a Fantom-s61 and the D/A on the Akai sounds soooo much better. I've loaded the same sounds just to compare and it quite a difference. That's why I won't cop the MV (I guess they have simmilar D/A's). Also it's enoying that every time I startup the Fantom I have to switch off the master compressor...come on, I don't wanna use it all the time!
Perfect mix though (Fantom + MPC).

Perfect mix though (Fantom + MPC).

Fantom doesn not equal MV...The sonic quality on the MV is not the same as the Fantom....Also, you do not need to turn off any compressors every time you boot up the MV...The only difference in the sound of the MV vs the MPC is the MPC has hotter outs (not punchier)....That's true with a lot of gear, and you just need to compensate for it....

Personally, I don't like the Fantom, I've got the ES8, and I sold my TS to so it when the Fantom X was out and haven't particularly loved Roland synths over the last few years but the MV they did right. But like I said, it's just one man's opinion.
