MPC 2.8 worth the wait

It's a beautiful update. All is faster, midi, qlink overlay, it is becoming a powerful tool. Great job.
They will fix the issue and there are workarounds.
Mpc is very funny to play now.

Normally I would've answered 'Dont Care' because honestly I haven't needed anything other than what has been on my MPC since I got it in December.. I caved though because some of the little workflow fixes they threw in rule, I actually spend most of my time in Track mode now instead of Main mode. Having Pad Perform right there on the tracks is rad too, so quick to just bust something out when you need it now. The whole machine feels a lot more uppity too, like was mentioned over at GS, Im definitely feeling there was some code/hardware optimization done the way it moves now. And the MIDI routing now lets me get rid of a bunch of crap laying around in here, and if I decide to scrap my interface altogether now (only have two synths that still need actual DIN ports, so MPC A and MPC B here we come), I just freed up a rackspace. Freeing up a rackspace means, I can put my 828MK2 back in the rack right underneath the new 828x I got this weekend and max my shit out for a full 24 channels in and out.. I just bought this Soundcraft a few months ago to replace the 16 channel one I bought a couple months before that. I should've just bought a damn 32 channel with 24 direct outs from the start hah.

I'm one of the "dont care" votes. I don't use a lot of gear outside of the MPC so the midi update doesn't mean much to me. I haven't even updated yet because I'm not liking the bugs I'm hearing about. Dudes losing whole projects and samples etc? And the track mute bug would **** up my work flow.

Don't get me wrong, I'm glad they are working on improving and adding features to the MPC, bur for me, it already does most of what I need, I just need it to be stable.

Also "dont care" because I dont care about midi...
Now I got a bunch of weird glitches, audio dropouts, song mode shortcut works after entering-exiting-re-entering menu page, every project sounds a little different, the mutes are weird, the q overlay covers effects parameters, also covers sample edit graphics...
I wont roll back, they'll be fixed eventually.
2.6 was the last clutch & stable update imo

Lol the Dont cares.. I get it I do I have experienced some glitches but it is faster .. I'm going to turn off the control features I tried for my mackie controllers that could be one of the problems.. Danoc you a reason guy and in is tough to compete with a DAW. But my X in standalone with Cubase 10.5 is powerful lol..

It's more stable now.
Many bugs solved and all is working fast and reliable. Only problem is that samples muting, i am sure it's nothing complicated to solve.

Why is it strange? The update took care of the major midi problem that people whined about (for years), it didnt add any arbitrary features like "splice service," it added a few decent features that may help workflow. Its buggy, but it'll get fixed.
These devices still have room for improvement though!

Hey, lm a S1v4 and Reason man. I love both those DAWs. The thing is l just couldn't do everything in the MPC l wanted. Akai didn't build it that way. If l had out board gear maybe but lm not going that route either.

So you have your X midied up to Cubase?

Strange because I guess I just expected more “no’s” from the users who don’t care about MIDI control and are bothered by the bugs. The track mute bug is a literal show stopper for some - literally breaking song projects.

I agree they’ll be fixed at some point, though. Hopefully soon.

Yeah they gonna fix it soon.
There was some problem with instant track mute on some past update, something quite similar.
And they solved it on the next update.
I guess the issue is coming from some bug on instant track mute and it's been messed up by all the new midi protocol.
Just a guess, of course.

I just hope it’s truly soon (a hot fix within a month) and not “Akai soon” (3-5 months from now)!

Question

Is everybody experiencing the track mute bug? It seems like more people would be up in arms about it. Maybe most users don’t sequence songs that way?

I didn’t have a chance to test it before I sold my Live. But yeah, I’m curious too. The Get Satisfaction thread that reports it has less than 10 “likes” as of yesterday.

I'm also curious about this track mute bug, sounds like a real show stopper but I also expected more people would complain about this Is it just when sample on the track is equally long as a sequence?
Just curious - how long it usually takes Akai to fix stuff like this? Is it like 1-2 months or rather 6+?
