Make a new project with just a drum track at 120bpm on MPC Live standalone.,
From preferences, enable "instant track mute"
Put some kicks, snares, etc on first pads and then put a clip already quantized and same length of the sequence (8 or 16 bars, whatever)- one shot.
Record some beat with kicks, snare etc and on grid edit, trigger the clip with just a note at the beginning of the sequence.
The clip, since is same length of the sequence, retriggers at the beginning of the sequence.
Now copy the sequence.
Put the first sequence with that drum track on (track mute screen) and the next sequence with that drum track off.
Now play 1st sequence and then 2nd sequence one after the other.
Does everything stops as it should?

Here is what I did... MPC X... 2.8

Program with a mix of drums, bass, chords, etc...

Track 1 - 2 bar pattern of Kick/Snare/Organ stabs
Recorded Track 1 to Looper, exported loop to above Program on B01
Track Mute - Track 1

Track 2 - single midi hit to play the loop on B01
Track 3 - Hats
Track 4 - Bass

I copied Sequence 01 for 02-04
Sequence 02 - Track 01 Muted and Track 02, Track 03, Track 04 playing
Sequence 03 - Track 01 and Track 02 Muted, and Track 03, Track 04 playing
Sequence 04 - Track 01, Track 03, and Track 04 Muted, and Track 02 playing

While playing the sequence, and moving through an combination of 02/03/04 it all plays correctly to my ears.

Am I missing something, or doing something in a different way than what you are trying to point out?

Ok fine, so this work for you.
Do you have some clips to import on Mpc? They should be the same bpm and bars of the sequence.
Then put the clip on a drum track and make one sequence with that track on and next sequence with track off.
This is where I find the problem.
On the sequence where the track is off, the clip keeps playing.
Since it has the same length of the sequence and it is not warped, it should be muted as the track is muted.

For the above example I posted, all sequences are two bars.

The Looper sample I recorded and added to program B01 is also 2 bars in length.

If I change the sequence length from 2 bars to 1 bar, then yes, I am getting the effect of the sample continuing to play from Track 02 into Track 03.

Maybe my memory is wrong, but I thought this is how it worked on many older MPCs. Since I typically don't work this way, I guess I haven't run into it before.

On previous MPCs when I wanted a sample to stop, I'd setup a mute group and then trigger a silent pad to choke the sound on a transition like this. But I am guessing that in earlier firmware versions this is not how this worked? Or am I misunderstanding how you are working and what the problem is.

Until 2.6 all was fine and I didn't update to 2.7 so I don't know if this problem comes from 2.8 or 2.7.
I have some samples that I made with computer, and they are built at the same bpm and length of sequences. I import them on Mpc standalone and put them on drum tracks.
Until 2.6, they were muted as the track was muted so all was fine.
Now they keep playing if track is muted or even deleted on next sequence.
And also, in the first sequence, if I start with that track muted and unmute it in the middle of the sequence, they only play at the beginning of the next cycle.
It was not like this before.
Projects are the same as the ones on 2.6 so there is definitely a changing going on.
I also tried to reset the system, save the projects with save as on 2.8, change the envelopes of the pads, but nothing changes.
My idea is that something was messed up with instant track mute and maybe because of all new midi protocol.
The strange thing is that I don't get any feedback from people with same problem. Maybe not many people work like I work or everyone is very busy checking new multimidi (something I can clearly understand).

Maybe clips work differently, but with any sample, if you have it set to ONE SHOT and you unmute it in the middle of the MIDI note, its never going to play until it comes back around and triggers the note from the beginning. Thats how mine has always worked since 2.5. Your tracks won't play until those notes are unmuted when it starts. And muting it is still going to play an entire one shot until its done playing. Once its triggered, its triggered.

Until 2.6, those samples were playing also in the middle of the sequence. 100% sure about that, it's a year I am working on these projects.

Well you could build your own.
Check what I wrote in the beginning.
Projects are still on work, I don't like to upload them, sorry for that.
Thanks for replying.

Yes.

In order to test as foolproof as possible op should provide the template. Anyone asking for help should be providing everything they can so others can give the most help they can.

I think what I wrote in the beginning is quite clear.
Make a new project with a drum track and import a clip or sample of same bpm and bars into the drum track.
Then put the sample or clip at one shot and with decay at max, and put a note on grid edit at the beginning of the sequence to trigger it.
Then copy the sequence and let the drum track unmuted on first sequence and mute it on second sequence.
Then tell me if those samples get muted on the 2nd sequence or not.
It's not that difficult.
I cannot share my projects, they are for a theatre show and I have a contract. So I cannot upload them.
But what I have been asking is 10 minutes of work.
Thanks for understanding
