Rearranging tracks

I have to admit I'm quite excited about the updates provided in OS2.8, but although it seems it's now possible to rearrange pad data between programs, unless I've overlooked something it seems it's still not possible to move tracks with MIDI events as in individual track sequences between programs(?) Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

Have Akai stated that rearranging individual MIDI track sequences for some reason is not possible to implement in an update? Seems so basic to still be missing. I mean who in the world would know beforehand where they will end up wanting to have their tracks placed in the future as their projects evolves?
For those with even the slightest experimental or open ended approach to your composing, how do you avoid a complete mess long before your projects are even close to being finished?

Many people use templates, to save them time. But if you just experimenting, the best thing to do is name the track, sequence, and programs.

I'm not if that's addressing your problem, but many times if for example I have my drums on track 1, a sample on track 2, then more drums or percussion on the following tracks, I will copy the sample track to an empty track (let's say track 5), then copy the last percussion track (from track 4) to track 2 (where the sample had been) and then copy the sample from track 5 to 4.

Basically, you can use track copy for this.

Sorry, I mixed up the terms. What I meant was moving recorded MIDI notes, say for a hihat pattern, from say pad 3 in track 1 to pad 9 in track 2. Unless I've overlooked something it seems this is not possible and the only way is to re-record a new pattern on pad 9 in track 2.

You can:
1. Copy track 1 to an empty track
2. Delete everything in that new track except for pad 3
3. Move all notes from pad 3 to pad 9
4. Copy the new track to track 2 using the merge function. It will include the Midi notes from pad 9 to track 2.

Wow! Can't believe it works. Was told that this was not possible on the Live/X and just accepted it as a fact and never bothered to check more into it. Guess I mixed up the terms again and misunderstood what task that was supposedly not possible to do.

The notes are all skewed though. Maybe the copy paste function ignores nudges done to the original pattern(?) Man this opens up a lot if I can get it to place the notes correctly.

Yeah I noticed I had to have the cursor at the beginning, zoom out completely and turn off TC. Didn't think of DON'T SNAP. Thanks for the help man! Really apprechiate it

What I do is:

1. Copy Midi Track 1 to Midi Track 2
2. Go to Midi Track 2 click erase button.
3. Press all the pad I don't want and press do it.
4. This leaves only the MIDI notes I want.

Note: On the erase screen, make sure NOTE is highlighted.

Yes this can be useful but this way you can't place MIDI notes into a track that already have things you want to keep. The big thing for me is to be able to rearrange pad patterns so I get to have them where they make the most sense. For instance I'd like to have the patterns that I occationally want to mute to all be in the same track for convenience.
