In terms of operating the mpc software are there advantages or disadvantages of having your pc connected to the Mpc or do most people use the mpc alone

Better real-time time stretch
access to personal vst’s
Being able to place the mixer on a separate monitor
128 audio tracks
Global midi learn

are a big plus for me software

The awful color scheme, for the GUI
No pdc for plugins
Bad browser system

are the minuses of me for the software

It would seem to me, a bit overkill to buy an MPC X and then delegate to the PC.

If you want to use a PC, I would say there are better "packages" out there, and you could always buy just a pad controller (something simpler and only for control, than the X) to complement anything. I really started disliking the "management of the computer", updates, upgrades, side-grades, incompatibilities, dongles, yada, yada, yada. I like sounds and music, not being a computer janitor.

I used to use Cubase/BitWig with a bunch of hardware accessories, but have since gone all MPC X, and especially since v2.8 with a couple of MIDI interfaces. I use a *lot* of external MIDI equipment though, which puts less strain on the type of DAW (whether PC or X) so you may be in a different category of user. I love the dedicated sequencer (and sampling, which I use for drum type sounds and other sound "effects").

Hey Terrico, hope all is good.

Sure, there are always advantages and disadvantages to this that are interpretable as subjective as well as objective.

This topic can be filled with pro's and cons if you like, but the question really is what you want to do with that information. The answers really comes down on your opinion and idea's on how you would like to work and how you can express your idea's and feeling in a way you are comfortable with (in that time-frame).

I know this wasn't the answer you are looking for, sorry for going full morpheus.
