Hi all,

Hope I can get some help with this. MPC One stand alone. I've tried updating the unit via usb stick (.img file) but I get "Unable to read file, try again". Do I need to decompress this .img file? I can't seem to figure this out. Then when I try to update it via my computer I get "Connect MPC to power then try again." I'm running 2.7.2 right now. I recall updating to this version with no issues at all. I'm using a MacBook Pro.

Thanks.

This is the initial file dowloaded

MPC-2.8.0-Update.img

I figure the image needs to be decompressed or expanded? Usually my Mac does it when I download it. My MPC One isn't recognizing any files when I insert my thumb drive.

Also when I double click on that image it pops up a message "The following disk image couldn't be opened/ not recognized.

Yup.. that's the very one I've been trying today. What bothers me is while trying to update it via my laptop, I keep getting that "Plug MPC power cable."

Did you reset your mpc prior to the update?

Can you go reload an os prior to 2.7.2 and go to 2.8 from there?

Maybe a stupid q from me but did you press the actual update button on the mpc?

It's possible the file got corrupted during download or part of the copy process. I know a lot of this is obvious... but...
* Check the file size of the .img file
* Make sure you eject the drive before you remove the USB
* The .img file is not something you can traditionally mount

He may have to Hold the Shift while pressing "Update" on the Settings Screen. It should Recognize the Update file.

Oh...also....the Update File should be in the Root Directory, on the USB Stick, or it may not recognize it

Hey Guys

Hope you all well? New to forum but content and support looks great here.

I'm having exactly same issue as above. Trying to update to 2.8 but MPC updater in WIN PC doesn't recognise MPC when i plug it in and usb file says it's corrupted when trying to download onto drive. So I'm stuck for ideas.

Any help appreciated :)

Just to confirm I've managed to get the 2.8 USB firmware download to update my MPC. All you need to do is download file from Akai PRO website. No need to open it just select options at the right side menu and select show in folder. Connect yr USB or SD card drive to computer . Make sure it's formatted. Then drag file from download folder on to USB drive. Once downloaded eject from computer put In USB port on MPC ONE switch it on and put MPC into update mode and it should update fine.

Hi all, I took a break for a couple of weeks.. now I'm back trying to update my firmware to 2.8.1. I gave up on the 2.8 update so I was hoping it would be a smooth update, but NO. Same issues. I tried USB stick and also USB cable to my MacBook Pro. Same issues. When I connect to laptop, I get the message: Cannot detect MPC, Plug power cable and try again. and USB stick message is: File is not recognized, try again. It takes me through all the steps but after I say yes to: Update MPC? It fails. I don't know what to do. Someone said make sure the img. is put in the root directory in USB stick? Can someone clarify how I do that? Thanks.

Do you remember what settings you formatted your usb to ?. Im having the exact same issue, neither PC or USB updating has worked so far. Even trying earlier updates wont take.
