Qlinks On The Live in Sample Edit / Chopping

Hey all,

Looking to get Live 2 and have questions on the Q Links.

From videos I've seen the sample edit Q Links arrange vertically in that mode. All i'm trying to do is make sure I don't have to switch between Q links banks to change start and end and zoom. Is this possible with the Qlink editing mode? I haven't seen it done so asking here

Sorry to disappoint you. In trim mode the first bank changes start on all 4 qlinks but each one has a different resolution. 2nd bank is the same for end. The way you want it is the qlink behavior for editing audio tracks.

Your fears are valid, you have to press the qlink buttons to switch values. We’ve been complaining about this since the live’s release.

Alternatives you can have the qlink row set to start, physically tap the end button on the screen and The big knob data wheel can control the end. While doing this the qlinks still control the start.

You can tap the zoom plus minus button while the qlink button is set to start, end , loop etc...

This needed to be changes ages ago, the plugins have qlink auto focus. When you press any value on the screen the qlinks automatically changes to value without pressing the qlink button. We’ve asked for it in sample edit mode.

It's these little nags littered everywhere in the OS that hurt the workflow. Like if you have to adjust the adsr for a whole program - like 5 or 6 steps to do 1 thing.

What’s hilarious is the MPC studio doesn’t have this problem, Using the arrow keys , when you select the start/end field with the arrows in sample edit.....the qlinks freaking auto switch. Like what the hell Akai fix this on the LIVE/One/Live 2.

All that is hella frustrating. Theres some kind of random bug on mine when I load a whole song sample:

-I move the start position manually and then it starts to zoom in/out

Are you using the touch screen to do that? I noticed the opposite happening after the 2.8 update. I'll pinch to zoom in or out and it'll accidentally move the end position. Annoying.

Yeah, touch screen. It glitches when I use the q's also... Its random. It will move the end position but zooms all the way in to the middle, lol. A reset sometimes helps. Very annoying.
