I'm not sh*tting on the RFX32, I've only used it maybe a handful of times, on a Platinum unit I was servicing + selling. I vaguely remember testing out one of the option ports and was able to route external input through the RFX32 which was dope. Then maybe a year later I saw people from Europe popping up asking a grand for the card on its own, more than double what I sold the unit for.
Yeah 4.6 is the minimum but you should be running 4.71 right?
Hell yeah, 4.7 lets you use the FAT file format so swapping shit between your computer is eeeeeasy. Makes using a SCSI2SD card so simple. I think that's about the ONLY new feature in it though haha. They say its a beta, but I think Ive had maybe 2 crashes the whole time so eh.
Man those cards are crazy expensive now! The bugs you can always find a list online and work around them but man, for that money you can pick up a few Quadraverbs or MIDIVerb 4s and just run your outputs through those instead! **** for $1000 you can probably get a Boss SE50 or SE70 for each individual output haha. How come I never thought of that until now?? The rad thing about the RFX is the crazy routing they can do. You can route incoming audio to it, then go to the sampler, send your samples through the fx then resample them, set up dedicated effects busses on their own outputs, etc.. It was pretty awesome shit at the time, its too bad computers killed them. Now that everyone wants to go back to the hardware sampler, the guys that did all the killer ones are past it and don't care anymore. Dave's making Eurorack samplers and Z-Plane filter modules now at least.
Even the output expansions are ridiculous when you can find them. 99.9% of the time, its cheaper to just find a sampler that already has them installed because for whatever reason, if the sampler has the expansions, they don't really add to the price of it too much. But when you find them by themselves, you pay 2-3x the price of a sampler for just the expansion!
