I miss the old screens. Not a fan of these ones, but they work. Since theres a screen hopefully we get a visual eq soon...

Has anyone here ever replaced the screen on a mpc x? just curious.
Hopefully its as easy as the old mpcs(2500, 5000, 3000)

Thought it was a defect. My boy bought one from the same shop at the same time. His screen is fine (same usage, 5-6 hours) .....spoke to the dealer today, Its being sorted under warranty.
Do what you want mate but you'll find the replacement will do the same...

I've confirmed this on multiple X's and have confirmed it with Akai themselves who on my behalf contacted the manufacturers of the screens which are different than the screens on the Live btw... They also confirmed it.

Unless Akai have started using different screens on the X (which I doubt), it will happen with everyones...

Easiest way for people to confirm is to leave their X on Pad Perform mode for 20-45 mins then switch to the main menu and you'll see the burn.

It always goes away tho... Most people don't realise unless you use certain modes for longer periods of time... List Edit, Pad Perform...
Thanks for the info mate. If I knew this, would of stuck with my Element or better yet 2000 XL. So basically Akai loves giving us cheap parts and buggy software with loads of features. All at a great price. F****** love em.

It IS and people don’t use it. But, cheap parts, I can see that happening too.

Damn near EVERY monitor and tv these days has a sleep function. Why is that?
Because it’s def possible good or bad to SCREEN BURN shit. Use the flowers SLEEP timer
people.

More importantly, peeps need to use their brain, take better care off your shit, turn shit
off and don’t leave shit sitting there on the same screen for 20min-6hrs. Shit

<sarcasm>Whatever Lampman, my MPC only sounds lit and ready to drop fire tracks when I leave it on for 3-4 days so that the capacitors can warm up properly and get that rich LoFi sound</sarcasm>

+1 for real though... learn better project save habits... save your projects, save your MPC.

Seems Akai and the dealer have failed to recreate the burning screen of death  so it seems the issues magically disappeared!!

Man this frustrates me so much...

When I sent mine in the store I bought it from held it for like 2-3 weeks trying to reproduce the issue and they couldn't!

Then when Akai eventually got they couldn't reproduce it either!

I gave them both exact instructions on how to do it! Its literally the easiest thing in the world to reproduce but they couldn't figure it out!

Eventually after insisting strongly! They finally managed to reproduce it then the story is as I already mentioned.

Good luck man on what you decide to do... But even when/if they reproduce it they won't be able to do anything about.

Its also not that much of a big deal anyway you know...

Thats what the Sleep option is for

Seems Akai and the dealer can't replicate issue. So its magically disappeared! By the way, sleep option was on, when the original issue occurred. Despite the shite customer service, cheap parts and buggy software, at least I don't have a Live 2 with a speaker issue, MPC 1000 with 15 pads that don't work, Ren with Soundcard issue, MPC 5000 with screen issue, MPC Touch with plastic dip peeling off looool...... Should of stuck with my 2000XL at least that was built like a tank and no screensaver required

If thats the reason you canceled you order than you buggin...

All mpcs have had screen issues basically. If not one thing than another.
Some would complain about them fading out over time and replacing them.
If ya got your "Go-To Mpc Repair-Guy" then ya chillin.

Not that hard of a fix.
Especially after all the years of maintaining other older mpcs. Just a ribbon cable a couple screws....

Returned for full refund. Inmusic UK are completely useless. About as useful as a chocolate teapot....Considering getting the One, less than half the price with a screen that doesn't display this issue. After the award winning customer service, I'm tempted to say f*** Akai all together.
To all those that say "use the screensaver", yes, the screensaver was on, and X was not left on one screen for six hours. Workflow involves moving through different menus continuously. Yet screen "retention" still occurs regardless due to the cheap and nasty manufactured screen. For those that say, just switch it off and on and it goes away....Personally, this is not good enough from Akai, not at this price point.
