The MPC 1 HAS ME STRESSED.

Ok so i just purchased a mpc one, and its difficult as hell to work with, mind you..I've never played with a beat machine ever. First i have a couple of questions..1st..i have NI complete 12, omnisphere, and nexus(payed cash) how can i get these sounds to work with mpc one. 2nd..do all i need is a sd card to store my media or do i need an external HDD? 3rd. I have a akai keyboard, how could i set it up to play like a piano while i push beats on my mpc 1.

2nd..do all i need is a sd card to store my media or do i need an external HDD?
Either or both if you want. Controller mode connects both of those MPC storage devices
to computer via supplied usb3.0 cable. The storage devices show up as if they were connected to the computer itself.

Difference of opinion, but the MPC One (Live/X) is some of the easiest beat machines to work with, IMHO. I'd advise you to simply spend some time and watch the video tutorial series on the MPC One that was released at launch, follow along, and make the demo song being demonstrated in the video series. If you can't wrap your head around it after doing this, then I'm not sure what to tell you. So watch this entire series, in order, and following along:

Couple of options: Option 1 - treat your computer/DAW as a piece of hardware and control them via MIDI. Option 2 - sample them and create some standalone keygroup samples, etc. Auto-sample feature might be a good option for that. And yes, you should probably read the manual for this part.

You most certainly need either an SD Card or external USB drive to store your samples and projects on. DO NOT use the internal storage of your MPC One for this - it will fill up fast.

MIDI. Either USB or plain old fashioned MIDI 5-pin ports. If you just plug in your Akai keyboard via USB, your MPC One should recognize it automatically and you should be able to play any keygroup or drum program from your Akai keyboard as well. Again, might want to read the manual.

The MPC ONE'S storage or attached sd/usb storage does not show up, when connected to a computer. You know they had to cut corners some where. So I guess they just, disabled that million dollar function.

Wow! I was just about to say the same thing. Wtf Akai?!

Y'all missed some of the forum post complaints a few months back complaining about the USB/SD not mounting for the MPC One

Seriously, it is a stupid change, as it needlessly complicates the differences between the MPC models in a non-obvious and non-physical way. I get the audio input/output difference... I get the q-link differences... all that sure... but the SD/USB difference is weird.

My bad @Op, I though they could all do at least that. I thought it was a set in stone feature among the 4 MPC’s.

Yeah it’s a real scum move by akai. There’s literally no reason to prevent usb hub access in a $700 device.

I can’t remember what forum I read it in, but they guy that’s always access the mpc code said there are more flags to enable/disable functions added to the code since the 2.8 update.

I do not believe the official reason gave for pad chopping not being enabled in the force. It comes across as deliberate.

You may want to autosample your favorite patches from your VSTS to your one of you don’t want to midi or use ableton link.

Hey there. A different point of view for you... Have you considered Microsoft surface pro 7? I was disappointed with the mpc lives workflow and missing options and bugs so I sent it back.. Windows operating system means u can use all your usual software in a highly portable form factor.. U could even use mpc software if you want.. As long as you can live without those nice pads
