Just curious if you have examples for which midi implementations you'd like to see for controlling VSTs.

I personally don't care about VSTs, but i guess the midi implementation would work for them or hardware. I'd like to see per step CC parameters or by pad or just some crazy stuff I haven't even thought of. Would really like it to have Cirklon capabilities, but mpc style work flow. To me the MPC workflow is the easiest work flow. I'd like all the capabilities of the sequencers that are usually used more for "EDM" type music, but with the MPC work flow. Like elektron, Korg, stuff etc...

or even just midi control of the live 2's mind bending speaker :lol: JK

They're MONITOR speakers, not just speakers :wink:

These monitors work great for hearing just he metronome when using the mpc with hardware

Nice, I like that

I initially wanted it thinner but the idea of a battery and an interchangeable drive moved me much more. I would have liked for them to redesign the shape to incorporate all of the necessary q-links or even reverse the positions of the screen and buttons to make to make it easier for us right handed people. I hate leaning to the left to make beats but like most things in life, I adapted. I just don't see where in my 30 years of beat making, that I have ever needed another option outside of hooking my device to either my monitors for sound or my MDR headphones for privacy. I only see the addition of internal speakers as something that I am going to have to spend money to fix in 3 years due to constant banging on the pads. The fact that they did not give us at least 4gb of ram or the ability to use vst plugins in standalone makes me shrug my shoulders in confusion.

That's funny because people that could have checked the specs and the manual before they actually purchased the mpc (or any hardware) keep making me shrug my shoulders.

If you are in need of 4 gig ram and VST plugins, and you know it's NOT on the MPC. Why would you bother? Or complain about it?

I would never buy a piece of equipment in the hope they will update in the future either. Maybe some people do. I'd like to refer to these people as morons, if that's okay.

I was simply stating my thoughts. I'm well versed in what the specs are. I'm simply stating some things I would like to see on an item labeled as "2" which indicates its the next version. There is always a use for more ram and if you look at early reviews of the Live and the X, it was thought to have been Nice addition to use plug-ins in standalone mode. I, for one am not a fan of using the controller mode. I've always been a MPC standalone guy. It's not a "complaint", it's more of a wishlist item. I was a little shocked that they put out a second version this fast, and once you start adding automatations to your sequences and on board effects, i have had slowdowns that have caused me to have to connect to my computer to finish tracks. These type of situations would have been alleviated with more ram. :nod:

On the ram issue...
We know you can make a hit song &/or play a long live set with under 2gb... But what would it have hurt for akai to double that ram in live2 ??
Wouldnt it simply have allowed for more content to be loaded for a live set? A bunch of users were salty that the 'live' wasnt really condusive to playing live sets (even though 'live' may have been the ableton reference.) The solution that I read most was/is: I play a beat on my sp404 while switching projects on the live, x, etc.
Like how much more $ would it have been to double the ram & bump up the CPU? Would they have to rewrite the whole code or something? Seems like a no brainer to me, but id love to hear thoughts from some the techies!

In Order to increase the RAM...Akai would have to restructure the Hardware and Possibly tinker with the Operating System....Then Beta Test It.... $$$$$$

IMHO....Akai Put out the Standalones for Different Size Pockets.... If you need an Extra feature....Step it up to the Next Model. Lotta Live/One Users want X style Qualities.

They want more Buttons,,,Step it Up
They want Bigger Screen....Step it Up
They More Ins/Outs............Step it Up
Cant Take My X to the Park...Step It Down :lol:
Wanna Hear my Project without Headphones on the X....Step It Down :lol:

Yep, it would involve alot.
And it’s not a “no-brainer”, it would involve some brains also.

:lol: Thanks for the replies. Yes, some brains are involved when making complicated machines, just thought they would have beefed up the specs more than CV & a speaker. Doesnt matter, moot point now. Hopefully in the future we'll have a monster MPC

MPC X is as Close To A Monster as you can Get!

I would just suggest some Minor OS Enhancements. Maybe User Accessible/upgradable RAM

Hellz yeah, I’d be interested in seeing how an X2 would play out.

I’d be interested to see how this would play out also.

I knew what I was getting into so I’m currently satisfied with X.

If you want an upgrade path for this MPC line, you hook a computer up to it.
* more memory, check
* bigger screen, check,
* more ins/outs, check
* more plugins, check
* more polyphony, check
* more storage, check
* faster processor, check
* etc...

Heck, you can even take advantage of most of these features in controller mode without even looking at the computer.

Now I can certainly think of reasons hooking a computer up won’t do, but I am curious why folks don’t want to.

Well aside from the fact that it negates the main reason & feature for the MPCs in the first place... I dont know.

I hear ya... but standalone is a feature... I am not sure it is the main feature... at least from Akai’s perspective.

I bought and use the MPC X for the standalone feature myself, and I guess for my use case I do not need more of the above. So while I appreciate the frustration I guess I have not come to understand it.
