Installing MPC Expansions to the MPC One

Hey, me again - sorry I'm probably a bit stupid but..

Reading https://www.akaipro.com/kb/how-to-insta ... xpansions/ trying to figure out how to install MPC Expansions from my PC to the MPC One - all I can see is how to install the expansions to MPC Software.

But, that is not the same is it?
Can I install MPC Expansions directly to the MPC One?

You must first buy an SD Card (or use a USB stick/drive) and install the Expansions on that. The integrated storage on your MPC One is not available for installing Expansions on (and you shouldn't save any samples or projects on it either, as you will fill it up fast and cause issues).

Didn't know that the internal storage would cause issues if saved to; thanks - I'll use my USB for now and probably get one of those 512GB SD cards as soon as my 32GB USB thumb drive fills up. Thanks!

Let's say you're using the F9 EXPANSION STANDALONE.

1. Download it from Akai Pro account and unzip the file.
2. Inside the zip file, will be a folder named: F9 instruments
3. Unzip it and drag the F9 instruments folder to your desktop
4. On your USB thumb drive create a new folder and name it: Expansions
5. Drag the F9 instruments on your desktop to the Expansion folder on the USB Thumb drive
6. Eject the drive from your computer
7. Plug the USB Thumb drive into the MPC One
8. On the MPC One, go to browse and click Expansions tab.
9. The MPC One will see the Expansions on the USB Thumb drive

*NOTE: On the USB Thumb drive you'll only need one Expansions folder. Therefore when you purchase
or create future expansions for standalone, just drag the instrument folder to that Same Expansion folder.

Don't use the Expansions folder to save samples. It's only for Expansion Instruments.

:nod: How this basic feature is not on the MPC ONE is outrageous. :lol: They want people to buy expansion packs, but they make it 5 times more confusing for people to use them in standalone. I'm still hoping they allow data transfer over Ethernet, then I could just plug it into my switch and access any hard drive on my network, like any sane tech savoy person.

In My Opinion....They designed the One as a Scaled down version of the Live/X. I think they intended for people to have that Live/X experience with less Ins/Outs, Features, Access, etc. I think that would encourage One Users to Upgrade $$$

Its like a Compact Vehicle with Roll-Up Windows, No A/C, Small Gas Tank, Manual Locks, Vinyl Seats, etc :lol:

True, but everything is already cut in half. But if that was the case, why include Rendering, CV outs, an Ethernet port, or give it the ability to use it as an audio interface via USB. I find it hard to believe, that someone thought this was a good idea, to remove such a basic and standard USB protocol function. :lol:

You have to Extract the Expansion (XPN) Folder 1st. Then you copy the Program (XPM) Folder to the SD Card...Put it in a Folder Named "EXPANSIONS" (Root Directory) and it'll see it as a Expansion
