OS 2.8 MIDI timing with external gear

I'm currently working away from home and haven't gotten a chance to try 2.8 in my home studio yet and was wondering what the experience has been with MIDI timing using external gear. In particular I'm curious about latency or jitter when playing external synths with a MIDI keyboard through the MPC.

While I would say I'm somewhat sensitive to timing issues, I'm mostly ok when playing directly into my Virus desktop (which I believe in itself has a latency of about 7ms between incoming MIDI notes and audio). At least that's the case with almost empty projects, which is what's most important for me to work as i usually write keyboard stuff that's timing critical early in my projects and I'm quite happy with my MPC for all drum duties.

Given this info, would I have to expect a notable worsening with timing when playing my Virus from a MIDI keyboard with the MPC Live in the middle?

Ok that sounds promising. Have you tried playing a synth from another keyboard via the X?

Or was that what you were saying you did with the kronos and sub-37?

Can vouch I don't have a problem with timing having 4 synths playing at once and a deluge connected. However, there are other problems not MPC related. Think U can overload the hubs as some of my synths start to have issues when all plugged via USB. For instance my KORG NTS1 will only play sounds if it's the first synth in the USB hub or less perhiperhals are plugged in. I also got a weird response with my Behringer model d, which seemed to be playing some notes quieter/filtered almost but didn't do this when not using USB. Again not an MPC issue, but beware of overloading ur hub (mine is powered btw).

Sorry to resurrect this slightly mouldy thread, but has anyone compared the timing between using your MPC X/Live/One standalone and as a controller?

I think nearly everyone uses their MPC standalone but occasionally it's required to switch over if you need more audio tracks, or a specific VST plugin, for example. In this case, I wondered if anyone has noticed a change in timing?

Buffering in the Software may need to be adjusted? Im not sure, Im a Standalone Kinda Guy.

I know in FL Studio, the Buffer settings will throw things off Time
