Replacing main gain volume pot for the MPC 2000??

Hey guys,
I was wondering if anyone has personally changed out a volume pot in the 2000 classic? If my volume nob/ pot is not in a particular sweet spot, sound only comes in through one speaker monitor and only one side of my headphones. Doing some research I found its the main volume pot that needs to be replaced. I ordered 2 just in case but after I downloaded and read a little from the service manual it never really gave clear instructions. Hopefully I downloaded and got a full copy of the service manual but I am looking more to make sure! I was hoping if someone here has done so already they could possibly drop some knowledge on how to do so! I would also like to know if I would need to solder anything? I already have the parts needed just would like to hear some opinions, knowledge, and experience with working on the classic before I crack this baby open. My goal is to not break or make anything worse on my machine!

Do you need to solder anything, you should be able to tell by looking at the pot on the 2000, and the replacement part

A pot is a pot, there's no difference between that and other (50k Ohm I assume) pot. So replacing it will be simple as unsolder the old one, solder in the new one. If you don't know how, you can look up on Youtube I'm sure how to solder. It's very easy, is a skill that takes time to learn, but picks up pretty quickly. Just take your time.

I did need to solder the new pot on, and after some video watching on youtube I was confident enough to give it a try. I picked up a kronus 61 pc computer and electrical tool set off amazon and it came with a soldering tool and everything I needed! I took the mpc apart reading the service manual and removed the old pot. I then looked at the pot below and connected the new pot the same way, applying a bit of solder to connect the new pot the the board! While I was inside the mpc i took time to clean it and just see kind of how it functioned, I also scrapped off old glue that was not holding the screen in place on the 2000 anymore and re hot glued it to the outer casing. After putting it all back together the mission was successful the new pot functions as intended and the sound is freaking great!!! No more static and it comes in powerful in both headphones and speakers that is hooked up on the outs! As stated it was pretty easy to do and good way to get a feel for the inside of the machine! I am not so afraid to take it apart now!! Thank You for your time! I hope all is well!!!!

Hello I'm exactly going to do what you did, may I ask you where did you find the new volume potentiometer? If you have any reference (except mpc stuff)?

I've had encoders go bad but pots usually just need to be cleaned. Spray some deoxit f5, this has a nice luberant in it, or electronics cleaner on that pot with the cap off. Twist and breath new life into that pot. I would only replace as a last resort....

Yes I did try all of that but anyway I had to replace it, on of the branches soldered to the board was broken. I found this on Mouser PTD902-2015K-B103 and soldered it, the length is smaller than the original one by 1cm but it works.
The original part is PTD902-2025F-B103 but it was out of stock
