I'm having trouble using a very basic function of the MPC One: assigning single slices from a sample to a pad in a drum program. Basically, the problem is that the One always assigns the ENTIRE sample, not just the single slice I'm trying to assign, to the pad I've selected.
I've tried two different methods for this, each in a brand new project.
FIRST METHOD: Chop Mode
1. Load sample from the "Browse" menu.
2. Go to Sample Edit.
3. Hit the "Trim" button to go to Chope mode.
4. Select "Regions" to create slices (causing flags appear on the sample).
5. Use the pads to go through the sample to find the slice I want to assign to a pad.
6. Once I've selected a slice, hit Shift-->Convert.
7. Choose the "Assign slice to pad" method, pad A01, Non-destructive slice, Program 001.
8. Hit "DO IT".
9. Hit "Main" to go the main screen and find drum program 001.
10. Press pad A01. At this point, the entire sample plays from the beginning instead of the single slice I tried to assign.
SECOND METHOD: Trim mode.
1. Load sample from the "Browse" menu.
2. Go to Sample Edit.
3. Hit the "Trim" button to go to Chope mode.
4. Select "Regions" to create slices (causing flags appear on the sample).
5. Go back to Trim mode. Use the wheel to go through the sample to find the slice I want.
6. Hit "Assign" to bring up the ASSIGN SAMPLE menu.
7. Choose Assign slice to pad, pad A01, Non-destructive slice, Program 001.
8. Hit "DO IT".
9. Hit "Main" to go the main screen and find drum program 001.
10. Press pad A01. At this point, the entire sample plays from the beginning instead of the single slice I tried to assign.
I read the manual, looked up tutorials on YouTube, followed directions exactly (or so I thought), and this keeps happening.
Any idea what I'm doing wrong here?
