was trying use this break, I wanted a old school hip hop feel, but couldn't make it work...

Play it don't sample it. Chop it up and use your own rhythms.

serious though, just about done with my weekly paperwork, then I can finally dig into this for the next two days. It's been fun the time i have been working on it, some challenges and definitely learning some crucial things. last weekend, the issues seemed to be my choice to change the tempo away from the original to be giving me hiccups. I really need to break out of my comfort zone of 150-160 bpm, (75-80 double timed), I tried 180 which seemed closer to original tempo double timed but had a hard time. I couldn't get the breaks I wanted to use to flesh out right neither.

just making a status report of sorts of where i am at. happy with the main body of my track but some elements really need to fine tuned.
cheers to everyone participating

LOL!

PAPER WORK = Organizing his Stamp collection.

The only samples would have been the drums, and I guess still technically are with my one shots. I thinks it’s cool I used the jamming melody in my exact style but wanted to go in more uncharted area for me. My breaks game is lacking. I spent the better part of last weekend just learning this song. It may seem small to y’all but me just sitting down and learning a song I like hasn’t happened much. Maybe 20 years ago when I was learning reggae bass lines I loved. Speaking of which, I really wish I had a bass still. It’s ironic to me my musical journey started with learning to play reggae Bass lines with my buddy playing a zoom drum machine and now here learning to play it on keys with a mpc wanting a bass ... lol

I wish my paperwork was organizing stamps... I have to do payroll and expenses for my crew every week. It’s annoying, my job is really draining. I hear what you say about making music happen if it’s what you want to do, but between family stuff, needing health insurance myself, 50-60 hour work weeks of manual labor it’s turns into a trap. It’s cool to hear some get out of it, not trying to make excuses for myself but atleast right now I’m stuck. Although with this whole Covid mess I have been able to reevaluate a lot of things, just a long road as you know.

Ooh yeah man, contract a Small Business Payroll Services. Charge the cost to clients and write off the expense at the end of the year. Save your time!

Working during this time is a blessing for sure.

That said... ain't gonna matter if y'all don't bring some heat. And I'm not talking about heat in the summer time. Y'all better come with some "scorch the earth" heat, cause this genre change I just finished up is nasty. Like mean-mug your speakers nasty.

HAHA. Y'all got less than 5 days to get... you know the rest.

You do know that Radio Ready mixes, tend to be thin and over compressed. Best to go for that Audiophile mix.
