Recording vocals on a sequence (recording loop??)

Hey,

Is there a way to setup recording looping for audio tracks? I find it very annoying having to press the record button at the start of the sequence if I’m looping it round. This is not an efficient or practical way of recording vocals. There needs to be a multiple take tab like other DAWs so that you can leave the sequence looping and keep recording . Any solutions to this that anyone’s using?

The mpc is not a daw and in my pov, it's not meant to be used to record and mix vocals. Use a daw. you have a - P.C with Core i5 8600k 16GB 3200mhz RAM M.2 SSD & SATA SSD

Or another option is, you make a song (check the manual) and then you record your audiotrack with vocals.

Bees I know what I’ve got But thanks for telling me what equipment I have oh and as well as the pc I’ve also got an i9 Mac too ! However I’m not asking you wether I should be recording in my DAW (which is cubase 10.5) I’m asking wether there’s a way to use the MPC 2.8.1 software to record vocals In a usable way. Why do I sense an air of frustration in your reply as if I’m asking a ludicrous question?

If this software is not a digital audio workstation then what would you call it?

I agree it’s definately “trying” to be a DAW and I’ve been using the software for a while and I like a lot about it. There’s a shit load of bugs as we all know! But I’m able to come up with ideas very quickly and I was just messing around yesterday with some vocals straight into the MPC I was able to work much faster than I can in Cubase . However the fact that it doesn’t loop when recording seems like a simple thing they could implement.

I get that I can create a song (and I don’t need to read the manual I know how to do that!)
But I like being able to work within the sequences tbh.

Anyway; No, you can't record longer audio tracks over sequences, you have to create a song first. It literally takes maybe 20 seconds to do. Is that really an issue?

I would call the MPC a sampler/midi sequencer. In no universe the MPC could match to ableton, cubase or whatever. Actually, the current song mode is the biggest point why it is not a daw.

The MPC is a integrated DAW, if you know what you're doing you can produce a finished product. Will it take more work yes, but it can be done.

There are several demos that come with the MPC that show vocal demos. So it can be done. My suspicion though is that the vocals were recorded elsewhere and imported into the MPC.

Personally I think it can be done, but requires working differently than a more traditional DAW since it will be a pain to crossfade between multiple takes.

I would probably work in shorter one to four bar chunks and make a one shot program... but then it will be wonky to work with audio data... shrug

Just out of curiosity, do any of you guys record vocals in the mpc?

I have, but this is measured in hours, so definitely not an expert. The workflow felt wonky and I never tried to build up a solid process. It is likely doable, but I would rather do it in Ableton or with my Zoom H6.

I've done a serious recording, to test out the process and it's works great. I've used an external mic pre and headphone amp. In the long run it's not something I would use everyday, but in a pinch I can get great results.

Yeah, that's because they work with novices. But then again why their stage shows are terrible.
