MIDI Not working in MPC X Controller Mode

It's obvious I'm doing something wrong, but what that is I don't know. For some reason MIDI works great in standalone mode, I can control all my hardware synths, samplers and drum machines, but controller mode is an opposite story, none of my external gear appear to be receiving any of the MIDI messages. WTF am I doing wrong????

I solved the issue. When in controller mode you have to setup the ports like I've done in this screenshot. For whatever reason In standalone mode you don't have to do this yourself. It's done for you automatically...

In standalone you only have what ever ports are on the back, vs software also needs to account for the Mpc and what ever other devices you have connected. Soundcard, other instruments etc.

If I would have seen this earlier I would have tried to break it down.

Much thanks for your insight. I've been on a serious beatmaking binge lately so I think my wanting to get music done is interfering with my technical reasoning so any help of any sort is much appreciated. I'm just happy I can now blend my hardware instruments with my virtual instruments!

did you try setting up the midi ports in controller mode like FB described? ...

Go into preferences, then the MIDI tab and change the ports in MIDI Mapping...
