New MPC One. I've yet to get past the red "searching for computer" screen. I've installed the current software twice and the 2.8.1 hardware firmware twice, once using the usb method. Tried every USB cable in the house, and every port on the computer. When stuck on the red screen, I notice the pads and knobs are registering in the MPC software, but nothing more. Standalone seems to work fine.

Any suggestions welcome.

I re-installed the MPC drivers with no change, still stuck on red screen. Pads, knobs and buttons, including transport buttons, trigger the software, meaning they play notes, but neither Reaper nor Midi OX are receiving midi data.

Not sure what USB settings I could change, drivers are up to date. Never had issued with any other USB device. Running an RME sound card, that thing is solid.

if it's like the Live ..
use the midi connector out to communicate with Reaper

the usb (on the Live) only connects with the mpc software
and .. the mpc plugin .. ( but not the host .. i.e. Reaper daw here )
and nowt shows in my midi-monitor .. when just the usb is used ..

'n run the mpc software .. or the mpc plugin within Reaper ..
before asking the hardware mpc to go into controller mode
if either of those 2 aren't running .. the hardware won't connect ..

at least .. that's how it be on my Mac.

i could not find any info that the mpc can actually sync via usb with a 3rd party DAW or that it shows up as a midi port..

get a midi interface, midi out to midi in. Sync and mmc mpc to midi out, set reaper to receive sync in. Lots of youtube tut's about it. MPC tutor has some tutorials about this too... but not perse for reaper (but it's all the same really).

exactly. he has to get a midi interface, or if his RME sound card has a midi in, he doesn't have to buy one.

Fireface UCX. midi on breakout cables.

I guess maybe the only thing I'd be missing in controller mode is more than 2 audio outs over USB, but I'm not sure if that's possible.
