Studio Black Tempo Issue

This is more of a pre-emptive strike than an existing problem. However, I thought it might help out anyone should this happen to them. I'm using a Studio Black with the latest version of the MPC software (2.8.1) on a standard HP Windows 10 laptop. I'm controlling four hardware synths using USB MIDI via a powered USB hub.

I did the upgrade from version 2.8 without any apparent issues.However, on trying to record the tempo went haywire, quickly varying between 26bpm and over 200bpm, entirely at random. After much investigation and re-installing the software (with the same issue recurring) I went back to bare bones. removed anything with a USB connection, including the Studio Black and started a new project. There was no issue so I added in one USB connection at a time. After the third USB plug was put in the issue started again although to a lesser degree. By the time I'd connected everything up again the problem was back. The solution I've found (which has worked so far) is to open the MPC software last, after all USB connected hardware is switched on.

Apologies if any of this is blindingly obvious or has been covered elsewhere but if it helps out one person then five minutes typing this will have been worth it!

It sounds like a potential midi loop issue, or multiple devices sending tempo. I'd check for both.

I've now got the issue again and firing up the software last isn't solving the problem. It's now doing it when nothing is connected as well so I've raised a query with Akai Support. Not holding my breath to be honest.
