well lets face it, nearly every person i know who has an mpc4k has put the mpc on ebay. You may dislike it, but the fact remains that the MPC is lacking some stuff wich is hard to work around when you want to use the MPC as your main sequencer.
After buying the mpc nearly every answer to a question "how can i do this function"and the answer is "no you can't " poeple tend to get dissapointed.
I dont think this machine will get better if you all hang post here and crawl up Akai's ass.

Yeah and another fact is that here on this board some folks disses the MPC. Not too many peeps (no peeps as a matter in fact) diss the MV on the MV board. (Wich has a lot more users btw )
People talk more about the MV on this board than they do bout the MPC.. hehe
.. Wich says something, right?

Only thing I read here is: "Send it to Akai" ..... I mean... That aint right

Damn Mo I can go back to when you first came to the board and asked the most basic question and others told you off, said to read the ******manual, and whether you knew what you where doing. I helped you a couple of times cuz I was just like you. I`m surprise you want to come at me like that Mo. I got my gear and you are adult and can make your own decisions. I for one NEVER TOLD YOU THAT YOU CAN`T and I have never been disappointed in my gear. Everybody has there own **** choice to make in this life Mo.

Do what the HELL YOU WANT TO DO BUT DON`T COME AT ME WITH YOUR "YOU CRAWL UP AKAI ASS CRAP JUST CUZ YOU ASKED QUESTIONS, YOU READ THE MANUAL, YOU HAVE POSITIVE ATTITUDE, YOU TRIED TO EMULATE YOUR MENTORS "BLAZE, PREMO, DEE, D WEST, DRE, TIM, FINESSE, WILD, LIB, I.D., WEST, CHEMIST AND MAD OTHERS whose music I love and respect that use the 4k and other older gear with no **** problems aka I listen to them not you, akai or any other fool.

I don`t even know what style of music you are doing and how long you been doing it and I don`t really care Mo Mad. You can go crawl up your own funky ass for all I care. I came to this board for tips and techniques not a crybaby hold my hand kind of shit either.

Be an adult disagree with me, make moves and do your own steps don`t attack without it coming back ****.

Using your own words "I make different music than you" whatever that shit is suppose to mean. But Mo this goes out to you and ikke together cuz I got the feeling you two have decided to buy a MV8000 do as you wish.

That is cool, I wish you the best with your music. That is all, I have no interest in whatever you buy, sell, or what kind of music you play. I doubt we would ever meet face to face or run in the same circles (cuz I would knock you the fu!k out :D ) but this board is a board for helping MPC users not a MVnation RECRUIT BOARD you feel me.

If you got new gear why not post tips, new techniques, like a decent person who want to help others out rather than an be instigators raving about the specs of a gear and how much they like they machine.

Who the fu!k cares about I love my MV, I love my MPC, I love my keyboard, gear lust totally out of control. Do you love these nuts!!!!!

I don`t care what you have, or what you are going to get. I love Hip Hop, House, R&B and electronica music period.

And I will use anything and everything to make the music that i want to hear. I`m no pro so I know that I HAVEN`T used my gear to FULL POTENTIAL BECAUSE I HAVEN`T reached my full potential. I haven`t mastered music theory totally, I haven`t mastered midi totally, I haven`t mastered sequencing totallly, and I haven`t mastered synsthesis totally.

So until I do ain`t no way I could know all the possiblities I could do with my gear. The TRUTH IS THAT I HAVE ONLY SCRATCH THE SURFACE.

How about you Mo? How is your personal musical development going?

A engineer/producer told me in simply words "Once you understand the process of making music, how to mix, how to use midi, how to sequence it , arrange it, and the workings and limitations of your gear, you can make music on anything and it will sound good."

That was it over 1 1/2 yrs ago since I which from an 2kXL to 4k that dude told me that and I have been grinding, listening to other pro producers tracks, imaging the mix in my head, reading a gang of books on music technology, theory, and sampling and giving up alot of weekends and late nights **** with those parameters. I always research about music technology so I know about the MV too. In Japan you can go to just about any music shop Ishibashi and mess with both in the same section. Plus they got even new gear coming out too.

I spent alot on advanced gear, so I spent alot on books getting the knowledge to learn what those BIG WORDS mean, call up Akai Japan alot to ask for help, talk to alot of local dj producers who kick it in my head to dj to learn alot of techniques that are not in the manual, and I spent many late nights, and weekends banging on the pads.

I got alot of rolling eyes on my first beats, Hmm that`s not hIp hop" And I was frustrated with myself not my gear. Why is it so hard to do what I want and what`s up? Then gradually the techniques, tips, and lot of the past experiencse fell into place. WOW NOW I UNDERSTAND WHAT I WAS DOING WRONG, NOW I UNDERSTAND HOW MY FAVORITE PRODUCER DID such and such. I WANT TO LEARN MORE AND MORE is my feeling now I love music because the sounds in my hear or matching the beats I make on the mpc.

THE DIFFICULT LESSON I LEARNED WAS I NEEDED TO REALLY, REALLY LEARN THE BASICS OF THIS GAME CALLED DJ MUSIC, ALL THE TECHNOLOGY IS BASE ON MUSIC AND DJS OF THE PAST REALLY CREATED ALOT OF DANCE GENRES THROUGH THEIR TECHNIQUES AND EXPERIENCES.

AND through trial and error I discovered alot of new workarounds that the manufactors never talk about on the machine. I started getting better, happier and more content not waiting on some neew features(they are always welcomed), but learning and using new techniques which I learn by the way from using other gear 950, 1200, triton before, software, and watching others especially DJs and their history.

But that is me, you are a grown ass man or boy I don`t know or care. Make your own decision MO Mad, but I say to you if you have nothing to contribute on how to make music, tips you learned on sequencing, how to use midi, sampling, or good guides what use are you to the board?

If I were you and I`m not I would follow my heart and not depend on anyone else`s word. If you had enough sell the 4k like your friends and buy an easier piece of gear to work with.

Oh yeah, ....... **** you too!!!!!!! for the little Akai ass comment.
:D

P.S. you remember your post here mo mo

I expect the MV8000 to have a very limited sample engine in comparison to the MPC4k, the Z8 sample engine is one of the most comprehensive sample engines of this time. From what i know the MV8 uses the same sample engine as (more phrase wise) as the mc909.

Remember that in the near future a simple phrase sampler will not be sufficient for all those complex hi tech, sample cd;s that are comming up. I mean,, the fender rhodes, the orchestral string stuff,, horns,, guitars etc etc.

kaotikmuzikproductions wrote:No offense, but you are one of the main people I was talking about. How is posting complaints helping someone? I thought that helping other users was what this board is for. We dont pay a dime to maintain this board. The least we could do is use it for what it was intended. This isnt an Akai sponsored board so why would you post your complaints here. Email them, and bug the heck out of them with your unrealistic wish lists, and complaints. People really spend more time complaining than doing what we bought the machine for,and thats make music.

A lot of the people who complain and go on and on about bugs are actual super users and get a lot done with the machine and know a lot more than you think about the machine. that's why they notice stuff and make intelligent SUGGESTIONS. It's not all about bitching man... that's all I've heard you doing so far... ... there is always room for improvements and if some people want to post errors and bugs and make this machine move forward and not just stay the same as it is now then I'm all for it. I don't think the fact that other people are making suggestions is a bad thing or stopping anyone whose got a question from asking it and getting a reply. The point of making suggestions and reporting bugs has actually helped give you features that weren't even fcuking mentioned in the original specs. (thanks feline and others)... if you've got a question ask it, if you want to post an answer, post it and if you don't want to get involved in suggestions just move on to another post. I really think there's room for any type of discussion about the mpc, cause that's what this forum is called MPC-FORUMS... what do you find in forums??? questions, answers, suggestions, bug reports and debates... just live your life and stop dissîn...

How my musical developments are going?
Very well i have to tell you, im having my 3d release next month.
I realy dont understand why you feel personaly offended, i realy dont. My heart is way to big to attack someone personaly.

And about helping me out when i posted here for the first time,,, i remember that, and i appreciate that, i still do.

I appreciate your posts as always, but i think differentaly, i think in a more critical analytic way. Dont forget that i mailed a lot FURs to AKai, from wich some have been implemented.
That is what i meant with : crawling up akais ass,, don't love your machine, just use it, because that is what the machine is for,,, and when it doesnt perform as it could be, complane to the poeple you gave over a 2000 bucks. Every machine is replacable, your time and effort is not.

peace one love under the all mighty

The problem with most folks is that they hate their machines and blame the gear for thier own shortcomings. While others mainly concentrate on developing thier skills, the concepts of music, midi programming and so on. Like I said before I and plenty of people love their music first. The gear is a tool to realize your vision. I`m more concern with my development, experience, and understanding of dj music overall to get upset over a parameter, function, or sample I may not properly understand cuz of my own lack of experience.

But it like a broken record, the MV8000 has alot of automations that would appeal to you Mo. It most likely will have alot of steps build in for entry level users and alot of task oriented features reduced for the experienced.

But still one key feature you have to have is a basic understanding of music theory, music, basic understanding of time, pitch, volume, how to mix sparse or busy and how to make a basic groove from the heart.

With this understanding you can do anything on any gear, instrument, or software whatever. Think about it almost 30 yrs later people making music with turntable cuz they had basic music knowledge. Don`t lets this companies fool you into thinking that they will simplify the process for you.

You can lose out on some important knowledge you need to know in order to grow as a musician/producer/engineer.

I always asked how? It can go a long way the question of how?

Good luck with your music, forget about the gear mv mpc, korg or whatever make beautiful music I say.

That has always been my point I don`t mess with my mpc this I ready to make music. I don`t fiend, crave, or lavish over my instruments.

I lavish over the sounds, music, and my vision.

The more I learn about the process the easier it is to use a mpc, mv or anything. For me I`m content.

Do I think you are a Entry level user NO!!! Prior software user yes and maybe some keys.

But I didn`t think you knew what you`re doing most of the time with your gear just scratching the surface Yes.

Before you quote, bicker, or say anything about my words read carefully my whole post in context, just because you changed doesn`t mean you have free licence to attack or say **** everybody else who at least have more understanding of their tools than you did "get it".

If you had problems understandable ( you seem to be lost many times in the past and present which is why many members gave you assistance) just take your hate and place it elsewhere not at others, the board, me, and newcomers who come here like me to learn.

Like I said before if you don`t have any tips, techniques, or info to share what good are ya?

In fact, I can`t find ONE TIME THAT YOU EVER POSTED A TIP!! Did you learn anything you wanted to share or you the feed me type of person.

But since you are selling your gear whats the difference now. But alot of techniques in different gears are practical the same just how many steps are automated in the software.

Gear 20 yrs back is the same concept of gear used presently the only difference is the amount of steps shortened, reduced, and eased for you that is all.

But if you are too dense to understand this basic concept you are indeed a dunce university trained or not. Cuz you can make music with just your voice and an mp if you know what you are doing.

As for dikke I think that his jealousy and contemptment he had for others who were not experiencing the same headaches he had cuz him to get in some pent up frustration. And the fact that he feels he no longer has a P.O.S. and the MV with be his savior. Trusty will be waiting with his patches for ya dickhead!! Before you sail onto MVNation( I check it for tips too :D ) I got my own last words

A Fool is destined to make the same mistakes cuz a fool never learn.

A Fool knows all the problems, but never any solutions.

You can tell a Fool by the number of times they change their setups for the lastest and the greatest.

Last be not least, a fool is a owner of many, but master of none cuz only a fool has money to burn, but not the sense to earn.

Blue Haze you realy need to chill out and stop judging me, if a machine means so much to you that you feel personaly attacked, when someone criticize the same peace of machinery,, if you equate your self-esteem with a peace of machine, youre realy missing something in life.

You call me a fool because i dont get all technical in the MPC??? Besides all the other stuff i learn and know in life you only judge me on the way i use my mpc?????
Thats not good my friend, youre blinded.

I dont hate anyone, i never hate anyone, i dont hate you either my friend, but you need to chill, you need to understand that a peace of machinery is just a tool. You just dont seem to get it, and that is not good, i think you need to look at yourself.

good lawd. Haze is a mad helpful cat and spoke alot of truth just now. I see the di**riders attackin him cause he has the oppurtunity to go and speak to the akai directly, which i can see some cats are jealous or envious of that. He is 100% correct bout its the mental not the machine. If u cant do it with the 4k u aint gonna do it with the mv. You cats need to stop bitchin and make due with ur machines. i have a 2kxl and it has mad less features then the 4k and u dont see me crying.

You would be right if the sequencer of the 4k can do more. It is very limited. And thats not IMO, thats a fact. You can edit everything one by one and I can live with that. But you cant shuffle, you only can quantize on grid. (and moving notes one by one is just a pain in the arsz) I cant play, you know.. But that doesnt mean I cant program or find a groove without having to play it correctly.
But I like to work with an MPC, for sure.
