Mpc Live 2 Memory Meter

Hope everyone is relatively well! Quick question about my memory meter in my Mpc Live 2. I only have about 10 projects on the Mpc so far. Not a lot of samples or full songs. Just small beat loops. Every once in a while I will load instruments and samples and nothing will play. I saw that my memory meter was very low, so I thought that was the issue. However, I just added an SSD. I haven’t had the “no sound” issue anymore, but my memory meter is still showing up as very low. Is this something I need to change? If so, how do I go about getting my memory meter into a big red bar again? Any advice would be awesome! Thanks.

When you loaded up the instruments that didn’t play, did you switch to the proper bank? Some instruments will start at bank C or the upper pads on the B bank.

Installing an SSD has nothing to do with your memory meter. That meter shows how much RAM you have left during an open session, not how much storage you possess.

You’re saying it shows as full, even with a blank project open??

Honestly, I saw the low meter and figured it should be full by default. Wouldn’t it always be shown as empty if that’s the case? Haha why even have the meter, especially since you can’t expand the ram.

The point of the meter is to show how much is in use, because if you keep sampling and/or loading samples into RAM or load up a bunch of plugins, your RAM will fill up (the bar becomes red) and your MPC will grind to a halt. If yours isn't showing much red, that means you're hardly using any RAM (memory) - which is a good thing.

While the MPC One, Live 1 and 2, and X are all advertised as coming with 2 GB of RAM (memory), the actual usable is supposedly closer to just 800 MB or something around that. Note that we are talking about something different compared to the built-in storage that comes with each (the One comes with 8 GB, the Live and X come with 16 GB; what you add yourself as an SSD, SD Card, or USB stick/drive varies of course).
