Ima have to mix it up with the Roland 5080, 1080 and the Triton. I don't know why Roland won't make the 3080 dam. Im comin bees80 lol

I think most songs use a roland drumcomputer, perhaps a linndrum or boss here and there.

Regarding synths there is just too much options. No worries though, i got the triton vsti too. But my sectret weapon will probably come from the jv1080. Spoiler alert.

i do, but i only use the tekno organ bass patch. it's that classic robin s / nightcrawlers bass from the m1. instant 2-step.

Apparently my track is turning into a somewhat sad synth pop sound... gotta decide if I cheer it up or just keep going and end up full emo

full emo is the way to go for synth pop man!

that craig david dj premier was actually just a remix, but a sick beat. mos def on the raps... nice.

No DX7 love here? Ok, programming a sound on it is....... impossible for..... at least me but the free emulation Dexed read syx files that come from the real thing and there are thousands sounds online so I use it as preset synth.

big FM synth lover here! I had a dx100 but i've sold that and now i got a digitone: fm synthesis made easy imo, the DX's are just horrible to program. I also had a yamaha reface dx which is also really simple to program.

The casio cz plugin from arturia is also pretty nice by the way.

Man, do you listen with analytic ears only? Or your definition of 'sad' is just different than mine.
Bronski Beat - Smalltown Boy is a sad song (to my ears) not only beacause of the lyrics/story but also musically.
Kate Bush - Runnin up that hill is very emotional (ok thats more 'longingly' : If I only could, I'd make a deal with god.)
Eurythmics - Here comes the rain again
Depeche Mode - Shake the desease
or Home. Yes, thats not 80s but Synth and so damn deep. That string arrangement.....
EDIT: Blasphemous Rumours (such a dope way to use samples. BTW when I heard Pink Floyd - Echos for the first time I got that 'Found-The-Samplesource'-moment. What do you think? (Intro melody of Blasphemous Rumours is played with the single note ofrom Echos)




IMO many of the 80s songs have a strong feeling. not necessarily pure 'sadness' but more yearning (I probably use the wrong terns here cause my english sucks )

It's probably my age but that strong feelings is what I miss in modern music. It doesn't give me goosebumps. That doesn't necessarily mean that there is no 'emotional vibe' and younger folks probably really 'feel' it but I don't.
