I have been trying to do the same on my MPC-X using an Akai MPK49 so I would also appreciate any advice.
I trying to change the plugin presets in a program, mainly so I do not have to do it on the MPC while trying to play.
Initially I thought perhaps program messages were not coming through. But after going into the midi learn section or touching the midi signal indicator at the top of the screen I can monitor incoming midi and see the program change messages coming in.
I also did a test where I looked up the midi control change number assigned to the browse button on the MPC-X to see if I could remotely activate it.
I was able to get the button to flash on and off but the software does not open the window for browser at all.
I even tried to map to the +/- button thinking at least I can highlight the patch selection field and then fire up and down from the keyboard. No luck.
There is also a setting in the general settings area to allow program changes for sequence, tracks and programs.
But this only seems to help if you just want to be able to change only the current sequence, track and program number.
I want to be able to target the other controls for these so that I can target the patch change for a plugin.
I might be wrong but it seems like the messages are getting through but are not able to be mapped to interface controls and other parameters as Akai have not set these up for reasons.
