Downgrading software question.

So I recently was all but forced to downgrade from 2.8.1 to 2.6 because of bugs I was experiencing. My question is that if I was working on a project in 2.8 and downgrade to 2.6 is it normal that the project doesn’t load up? The reason i ask is cause even though I look and I have the project data to be seemingly intact when I look in the particular projects folder, it isn’t loading up properly. It merely loads up the tracks and the samples/expansions I used. The sequences are bare and the project is all but blank. I guess I could try re upgrading To 2.8 with the risk of bugs returning or just bite the bullet and say goodbye to the one project. All my other previous projects were seemingly unaffected. I wasn’t working on a masterpiece by any means BUT, It would be nice to finish the project I was working on. Any information on this would be appreciated. Has anyone else experienced something similar?

As you probably figured out you can’t open a project made in a newer version of the software in a old one.

You could TRY loading the parts of the project individually, since programs and sequences are stored by themselves.

I've not tested this, but a 2.8 project should load into 2.6, they use the exact same 'project version' number. It's only projects before (I believe) MPC 2.1 that cannot read the current project format fully as there was a major overhaul of the XPJ format. You might be losing certain features by going back to 2.6 (e.g. the newer MIDI track config options etc), but I'd be surprised if it wouldn't load most of the 2.8 project resources, including all programs and samples.

As someone said, if all else fails, locate the projectData folder for the 2.8 project and load the programs and seqs separately
