Hi all! I have purchased mini mk3 recently and am looking for great Rock/Metal guitar sample collection (plugin) which is compatible with MPC Beats? I would like to by ready-to-go guitar sounds and map them like Hybrid 3 plugin. Is there any such or i have to forget about MPC Beats and try different DAW with my mini mk3 to create music with Rock/Metal guitar samples? Btw I don't play guitar, that's why need samples :)

Any suggestions would be highly appreciated!

Thanks everyone

I think you're not getting much response because you've kind of left the door wide open...

* Loop libraries exist you can chop up to work with
* Sample libraries exist that you could map into keygroups
* Guitar VSTs exist that simulate guitar sounds
* TONS of synthesizers can do pretty close overdriven guitar sounds
* There are guitar expansion packs from Akai and the site's own MPC-Samples has some great stuff
* Are you going to need guitar pedal/amp/mic simulations for FX

And this is just scratching the surface... I get that you want to make rock/metal... but it's not really clear how or what parameters you're considering. Personally I'd check out the sample kits at MPC-Samples... pretty good stuff there... but I think you're still going to hit the problem pretty quickly of "need to learn to play something"... and whether that is your MPK or an actual guitar... it is going to take some work... unless you just want to trigger loops... then you'll just want to learn chopping skills

Many thanks for reply, much appreciated. I am new to music making and walking my very first steps here, so thanks for information.

I have already failed with a VST plugin and wasted USD 139 (Ample Sound – AME II) :lol: I thought that guitar plugin will be as hybrid3 plugin which is friendly to MPC Beats (Just ready-to-go, like you choose hybrid3, then choose the sound you would like to have and everything goes smooth and ready to play). But when I chose the plugin inside MPC Beats then it has no presets or samples inside, just standard acoustic sound and no other options to choose, my fail.

At first I would like to start from something which seems easier and more basic to me: triggering samples and loops, so will look more for it...

Unfortunately I did not come across guitar expansion packs from Akai (not acoustic but rock/metal) but give my searching skills another try.

When you say that there are tons of samples and loops, do you mean that all this stuff is compatible with MPC Beats and I just need to understand few things (below are not questions my but to-do list):
1) how to upload samples and loops from internet to MPC Beats;
2) how to chop loops;
3) how to map new samples and chopped loops inside MPC Beats and save my own libraries.

Well. A long way to go. But my ultimate will is to try something new in music like mixing EBM, Metal, Industrial and classic instruments and breathing melodic stuff out :)

1) I am assuming but... You should be able to load quite a few audio formats into MPC Beats... especially the common .wav formats... this could be one shot samples (such as a drum hit) or loops of audio... somebody playing a guitar pattern that can play forever...
2) Just check YouTube for MPC Studio, MPC X, or whatever chopping videos... this should be very similar to MPC Beats
3) Another one that you can search for. You just need to read up on how MPC Programs are structured and how to load/save them.

As for specific loops... check out loop masters for example... or I am sure Splice has stuff... a quick google search for "metal audio loops" shows tons of stuff... and often you can get a quick listen to some of the samples at a lower quality before you buy to see if it is something you'd like.

Also don't discount to get started that you just record samples/loops off of your favorite artists. I wouldn't try and sell that music afterwards, but to learn how to construct a song, without spending a ton of money on loop libraries, this is certainly a valid way to start. It'll also help you develop an ear for finding good breaks and solo material.

I speak this as both an MPC-focused sound developer and a guitarist of 35 years. MPC program format is not particularly guitar friendly, it cannot handle slides, hammers, pull offs, nor can it switch articulations within a single program (e.g to bring in mutes, harmonics etc). Simple picking, chords, basic bends, yes, but if you want a proper emulation then you need to consider using Kontakt with a suitable library.

This is why I have mostly avoided guitar expansions as I suspect the expectations will be too high given the technical limitations of MPC format. All I have at the moment is this (try running it through some of the internal distortion FX...)

https://www.mpc-samples.com/product.php ... itar-free/

Actually I'm surprised you've not had any luck with the Ample Sound plugin, are you sure you are using it correctly? I find it hard to believe there are no presets.

All this makes total sense and very clear to me, many thanks NearTao! As an “induction course to MPC Beats” I would take your advice aboard :smoker:

Quite honored to get a reply from you, appreciated!

Kontakt... I heard of this soft, is this one suitable for proper music making (i.e. may I use Kontakt with my mini mk3 and assemble various instruments there like in MPC Beats or this one is made exclusively or mostly for guitar emulation)?

Many thanks for sharing a hint for your acoustic expansion, I will try for sure!

Ample sound was not recognized as “expansion” within a MPC Beats, but as a VST plugin (and I was expecting this certainly). But I was surprised that this plugin did not have the list of available sounds or presents (samples and sound banks) like hybrid3 does ... it showed only simple acoustic sounds (one bank) and no other options available :(

Kontakt is a very full featured sampler, load it as a VSTi in the MPC and then load your desired Kontakt libraries into Kontakt. It can play any type of instrument, there are literally hundreds of thousands of Kontakt libraries out there.

The product page for the Ample sound plugin states hundreds of presets, plus then you dig into all the controls, options and FX and create your own sounds. I think you just need to spend some time with the manual for that plugin and maybe get in touch with Ample Sound for some support, their plugins are really good and probably more flexible than Kontakt as they are optimised specifically for guitar playback.

Wow, I will google this one. Do you mean that I can use MPC Beats and intergate Kontakt into it? Well, if this is true, than I will become a bit more happy as MPC Beats interface is exteremely userfriendly to me :nod:

Yeah, you are right. I will invest my time to "solve" Ample sound and it seems to me that I will need to learn guitar also!

Btw I tried your acoustic expansion and distorted it, that's pretty funny but it appeared that my ears are willing to catch different guitar sounding ...well, I believe you are right to the point saying that I need to study "maths" of guitar and learn the plugins ... many thanks!
