Crinkling/Static noise

I just received my MPC4k today and I can't get sound out of the monitors or headphones. I just get random static like when adjusting a tv antenna. Is this a common problem? Thanks in advance

This aint a common problem. Looks like something is wrong with your electricity.

Can't Comment on the static sound (not normal),
but in regards to not getting a sound out of the MPC.

What steps have done exactly? Have you loaded up a sample and are in the "Sample" page
and hitting a pad and not hearring it? Or are you in the "Main" page and hitting the
pads? If you are in the "Main" page, then you have to assign a "Multi" that contains a
"Program" that has the sample on the pad that you are pressing/hitting.

Never mind I called Akai and they said it was done with. Oh well....At least I'm getting my DPS24 in tommorrow . I gues I'll beatbox into that for two weeks while my replacement gets here

You will not be disappointed with either unit. Well, when they work that is. The DPS24 is an amazing unit. When you get the DPS run a test check on it.


To do the test.

Press the Play, Forward, Reverse,and Record simultaneously, then turn on the power. That will enter you into the TEST mode. All but 1 fader will move up and then back down.

As you move the faders manually or turn a knob the LED read out will change from 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 0 A B C D E F and as you move the knobs or faders back the read out will go in reverse.

On the control panel there is a pattern but I don't remember it off hand.

What the numbers and letters represent is a binary code. If the numbers skip around, say like 123fF67A that means there is a problem. Hopefully there won't be. It is a solid unit.

By the way, are you getting the Blue model?

Don't know if it's the blue one, but I doubt it. I've heard those won't be widely available until Sept sometime. Plus, all the people on DPSWorld that ordered recently from Musician's Friend got silver ones.
