The UDG 'producer bag small' is fine, it's not a dedicated case, but it's a good, well made bag and also has plenty room for a laptop, plugs, cables, disks etc.

I prefer the SwissGear 5358, because it's really a padded laptop backpack, and it has plenty of room for the MPC Live 2 as well as a set of cans and a small MIDI controller keyboard. That said, YMMV:

If you want to do it right, buy a separate case that fits your headphone, power supply, drum machine. Go to one to these website below and have your insert custom cut to them. That way you can travel without worrying about water damage or drop damage.

Spend the money now, so that when it drops and breaks. You're not spending 3 times the money to repair it. Especially when touring or locally transporting your gear, try to leave nothing to chance. Take care of your gear and it will take care of you.

Yeah I don't feel there is a "right" or "wrong" way. Buy whatever works for your use case scenerio, and a 1 thing-fits-all approach is easily fine for many "producers".

Been carrying my cans, a korg nanoKey Studio, MPC Live (first gen and MK2), and even some snacks in a backpack, several days a week, biking to the park downtown without issue. Also use it when I'm on a plane (have taken it on vacation 3 times, and to a work convention 2 times).

Pro tip: don't drop your gear. It's not like it's heavy or anything.

Perhaps, "right" was the wrong word. However, there is a time tested method that reduces the chances of damage, when traveling with gear. Everything I've learn, comes from friends who are seasoned road crews in movie logistic and music tours. When transporting millions of dollars in lenses, cameras, and audio gear they leave nothing to chance.

Yes, and that's why I stated that. But it's pretty clear from your statement, that you didn't listen to your friends. No one gigging for years, would transport their gear in a back pack. It's not bragging when it's true, funny how you can't decipher the difference. But I'll restate.

Don't buy anything to transport your important gear. Do it the best (right) way!
