Notes not Chromatic? MPC Beats/ MPK Mini MK2 Keyboard Issue

In MPC BEATS my keyboard keys are not playing some notes chromatically.

I'm following the Beats academy tutorial and during the House video the presenter shows how to make the baseline.

At this point I noticed two or three notes in the octave are lower, why? What did I do wrong?

First tell us what software you are using and how the sample is setup..

Not enough info to give specific advice. But I would say, check that 'pad perform' is not enabled, as this will definitely stop your pads performing chromatically.

I've had this issue happen as well. Not in standalone, but in the plugin version. I still don't know why it happens. Pad Perform isn't enabled. OP-- do you notice this happens when you reach below E2 (the E below middle C)? That's where I notice the jump.


MPC Beats version 2.8.2. Windows 7, 64-bit.

Go to edit
Go to program
Then select chromatic

This worked, thanks. Sadly, it needs to be done with basically any and all "keyboard"-based presets... from the F9 library, etc.

Edit / Program / Note Mapping, and then choose Chromatic C1. Chromatic C-2 is the problem, as it jumps way down when played from a MIDI keyboard (once you pass E2 to Eb2).

Now that I know how to fix... (thank you again), is there any reason why this is happening? Also, when playing from MIDI Channel 2, this is a non-issue.

Another question... is there any way to access this mapping via the Program Edit page, instead of having to dig into the MPC Beats menu? Thanks!

I am not seeing this at all. I just tried a few of the F9 keygroup programs, they all work as expected, I tried a few of mine, these work 100% fine as well. TBH I'm not entirely sure what the actual issue is as the descriptions are somewhat vague, but certainly when I play the keygroups they are playing correctly and chromatically across the entire range from C-2 to G8. I do not see any issues specifically around notes E2 and Eb2 either.

Is this happening when you connect a specific MIDI controller only? Because the programs themselves are correctly configured and I have no issues when playing either directly in the software or via an MPC controller, nor via a keyboard controller.

It seems odd to me that applying the 'C1 chromatic' is the solution when the current default and correct mapping of C-2 to G8 is working perfectly, there is no need to remap keygroup programs, that feature is made for remapping drum programs.

Could someone describe the exact problem step by step, perhaps with a video to show exactly what is happening?

I posted this a week ago. It definitely exists! I tried it with the SL MK3, M-Audio Keystation Mini MK3, a Casio digital piano, etc. Same results every time.

Again, I am new to the MPC software workflow. Not MPCs as I've used the 2000XL and 1000 years ago. I'm really liking MPC Beats, even with this weirdness.

I am new to the OS but in Beats I just set the layout preferences to view all toolbars and one of them let me warp the chromatically assigned samples to the BPM. I did this making a key group, not 16 levels.
