Total noob with software and stuff need some advice

Oke, so ive been trying to get my mpc live to work with the mpc software. I just want to transfer expansions lol. But my mpc keeps looking for a computer. The live itself is on 2.8 and the software is 2.8.1. my best guess that this the problem but im notsure if i should update my mpc to 2.8.1? Ive seen people post all kinds of problems with 2.8.1

Anyone have some advice? Havent used a daw or machines that need regular updates for like, euh, ever.

Forget the software per se for the moment. When you hook up your MPC Live does it mount the drives to your computer? If it does, you can use the software to export the expansions to your mounted drives from the MPC.

Or...

If you've got a USB drive or SD Card, hook that up to your PC and export directly there. Then when you boot up your MPC in standalone with the USB drive or SD Card attached to the MPC it will load the expansions.

I always use the software to transfer mine. Love reading the description splash pages of the Expansions when I install them. When I make Expansions for friends, I always place a special message in my description boxes, too.
