Next Update... What To Expect...

i think it's gonna take a while. It feels like half of the staff members of akai have been fired due to covid..

Not if the devs are actively working on updating the Force firmware right now (and if the Force thread over at GS is to be believed, that’s exactly what’s happening - lots of alleged beta testers releasing tidbits of into).

I have given up on getting an update that provides good time signature editing, as what we had on the mpc4k, that allowed us to to change the timesig on an already recorded bar.. None of this mere set default, or insert new bar stuff that I have on the X, so in that sense, the X was a downgrade.

I also do not expect to gain a 2nd Sequence feature, as we had on older MPC's, that allowed for polyrhytms where sequences could play and loop independently..

On the X I can set individual track length, but instead of playing individually, each starts over when sequence loops.. So that's not good enough for polyrhythmic grooves that is built using different sequences..

These things still not being around, is the only reasons why I can't get rid of my mpc4k..

It sucks, but I do not expect this to be fixed.

What I have am hoping for now, is that the damn pad perform settings actually save for each project..

Now I'm forced to take pictures like it's the 70's in order to be able to remember all settings for each project.. And I have too many to keep track of.

Because the mpc somehow saves the pad perform as per last session, meaning that if I open an old project, I will get the pad perform settings I had on the latest project that I worked on instead..

But even that is unstable.. The last project I work on, keeps resetting to something else, even though I have only worked on that one thing the past couple of times..

I am hoping that this is not how it is supposed to be.. That I am experiencing a bug, or that I have missed turning something on that saves pad perform for each individual project.

That pad perform is not saving it's setting is really annoying yes!

"good time signature editing" is an understatement - it is literally not there - you need to set it as default for a project - stupid. OK - I do not need it very often, but nevertheless it should be there - if they calll it a Professional machine.

There are songs where you even change the time signature within a song...

EDIT: With the "Insert Bars" function one can add bars with a different Time Signature to an existing sequence. Delete the unwanted e.g. 4/4 and you are there. It is a workaround....

A big feature will be presented which is pressured by the marketing departement with good looking video's. You will be excited and you want to try out the new features asap, and then you will discover they also introduced new bugs which are pretty bad (like the track mutes and chopping bugs in 2.. Tbh a lot of this is factual, unfortunately. The potential for this DAW keeps getting crushed by its stability and functionality
