hola everybody. so ive scoured both the internet and the menus in my mpc live, and am not finding a solution to this luxurious but also very basic feature. i'm trying to--with an external keyboard (and ideally with the pads too, but seems less possible). be able to record a loop, keep it playing, then use my keyboard keys to transpose the loop (track or sequence) to whatever key i press. i feel like this has to be possible because a)there is a transpose option, but you have to use the jogwheel, and b)with the arpeggiator "pattern" function that's exactly what it's doing.

If anyone knows how to make this happen i will be soooo grateful. to me it's the best of both worlds of sequencing and live playing for writing and performing songs. thanks y'all!

i think i made an inquiry about this on the AKAI forum (getsatisfaction...what's in a name) but AKAI rep's told me it was not possible // got a song lurking where i want to try out that too // so the other way 'round this would be to sample your sequence, put it in a key program, turn on warp and play with your keys/pads ...

If I understand what you're trying to do correctly, I've been searching myself
You can do it with an ARP pattern, but you can't create an ARP pattern in standalone.
Here's a great Youtube video showing how to do it if you're connected to a computer.

The best way I've found is using my Arturia Beat Step Pro, I think the Beat Step will also do this.

Let me know if you have other solutions!

dang that's a bummer. yeah i guess using the keystep will be the way to go for me but i was stoked to have a streamlined solution. thanks everyone! tbh, i'll probably just be recording some audio into my daw twisting that transpose knob to get a semitone or five into my progressions ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Use the SSH firmware from Kikgen, map the global "sequence transpose" to a knob. That's one way.

You could also map the qlink knob for track transpose (screen mode) to an external controller if you wanted.

You could buy a cheap beatstep and record sequences on that, then midi input your playing.

You could also go through the hassle of creating your own custom arp patterns, which are transposable. https://github.com/TheKikGen/MPC-LiveXp ... -and-Force

With the insert plugins or midi mapping to the tuning in program edit, theoretically yes. Your midi controller needs to be capable of sending midi ccs at a precise value from the keys. Most pad controllers pads can be cc mapped. It depends on your keyboard midi controller having flexible mapping for the keys though.
